This is an old blacksmith forge in Lewes and is made as a museum to show how the metal was made into various tools and things by the worker.. The owner use scrap iron and tools to make items for display and for sale.. It is a nice place to visit and chat with the worker. A great place to... More

A really neat place to visit. Reminds me of what a black smith shop of years gone by would look like. Not always open but when it is make sure to stop by and gaze st all that iron wonder!

Well, whilst we were wandering around Lewes, trying to burn off calories gained from a beaut lunch. We came across the Forge, a good deal of "stuff" on display; but, even having lingered for 10+ minutes nobody fronted to ask if we were interested in any of the "items". I'm a blacksmith and I was visiting Lewes while on a break from a nearby blacksmithing conference, so I couldn't very well pass up John's forge. The best thing about it is that it is first and foremost a working forge. Williamsbirg is a working forge, but its priority is interpretation for tourists.
