Beautiful Building and grounds

The hall was closed since we visited on a Sunday. However, the green, the placards, the buildings were all very nice. It was clean kept, and informative. My husband and I are... read more

My tour of Legislative Hall, Delaware's Capitol building was just a wonderful experience. The tour guide was very knowledgeable, and even gave insights and asides to the building's history and renovations. The site is rich in history and if your group happens to be small, one might see some areas of the building that would not be included on a... More

Be sure to call ahead. Due to a fire on Oct 8 the Capitol is closed and there are no tours. We tried to visit on Nov 2, 2015. Nothing on the web site either. There are other buildings to visit in the immediate area but we are "collecting" capitols and left disappointed.

Because of the bad expiriences in other Statehouses yesterday we look on the Homepage, there was no restrictions posted. Today we go hundred miles to Dover, but the State Capitol was closed. It's closed for renovation since 14 days. The only thing was three dozen sites paper in a bad quality.

This is a working Hall, with Delaware's General Assembly in session between January and June each year. It's still the focus of many a school field, almost year round. It's a small building by comparison to most State Legislative Halls and the décor is very traditional colonial. It's nothing fancy but has balconies in both the House and Senate Chambers... More

The hall was closed since we visited on a Sunday. However, the green, the placards, the buildings were all very nice. It was clean kept, and informative. My husband and I are visitng as many state capitals as possible, so far 18 of the actual buildings. Dover ranks very high on our list and we didn't even see the inside.... More

We visited the Deleware State Capital and we were surprised to find that we had the entire building to ourselves minus the few workers present in the building. Only one entrance was open when we visited. Be prepared to go through the metal detector and to show photo ID. The guards were very friendly, but let us know that the... More

I'm nearly done with my quest to visit all 50 state capitols. Legislative Hall represents my 43rd capitol visit. It's quite small compared to most. But, it was a joy to visit. For one thing, it's easy and convenient to park. I parked for free on the street right in front of the entrance to the building. I enjoyed a... More

If you are traveling through Dover this is a nice stop. We went when the legislature was not in session so we had access to the halls. The tour is led by a volunteer. Takes about 30 minutes. We went mid-week off-season so it was empty. We effectively had a private tour so that made it very enjoyable. FYI, this... More

A nicely scaled building full of eccentricities guided by knowledgeable docents. Painting, architecture, sculpture, furnishings and more.

I had the opportunity to visit Legislative Hall during Dover Days and take a tour. The tour guide was great and talked about the two party system and the history. I was new to the State of Delaware and this gave me good information about the legislative process and also visit the governor's office. Well worth the time to take... More
