Some are trying to promotoe Dewey as a family place and maybe during the week it is to some extent, family movies on beach Mondays etc. but expect noise, an active nightlife, bar goers, live music etc. If you want a quiet family vacay go to Rehoboth or Bethany Beaches.

There are a lot of awkwardly strict laws that are highly enforced here - parking restrictions, bars close earlier than elsewhere in the US, and a hyperactive local rentacop force - that results from the longstanding, but low-key, local vs. tourist war. This is not an exotic beach getaway, but it is definitely a nice place within reach of rehoboth,... More

We stayed in Dewey and loved the beach. Our hotel was run down but I think this was a hotel for the kids to party. Not to much noise, but we were gone by the weekend.

Dewey is an interesting town with a mix of summer revelers. Families to college kids enjoy the town, beachers, shops, food, etc.

Rehoboth and Cape Henlopen beaches are more family oriented, whereas Dewey Beach attracts a much younger crowd. Dewey is home to many popular local bars and pubs. Dewey is very crowded during peak season. It is also very dog-friendly for the animal lovers out there.

Not bad but nothing I would find as exceptional. There were many shops near the beach that did catch our attention. Beach itself was clean

I had first come to DE in 2007 from NY just for one night stay to check out the area...I loved it and brought my mom back. I stayed at the Best Western Gold Leaf again. I like that its just a block away from Dewey Beach. If I were to compare Dewey to Bethany and Rehoboth, Bethany would win... More

This is an end of summer ritual, to travel to Dewey Beach, Delaware--which is just down the beach from Rehoboth and Bethany Beaches. As a dog owner and lover, Dewey offers the best options for those of us who don't own private properties at local beaches. Many vacation rentals allow dogs, which is directly related to the town's policy: During... More

Have always been intrigued with Dewey Beach while traveling through to Bethany Beach and Ocean City, MD. Decided to give it a try. It was okay, the beach is very nice. Not much to do in the evening unless you are "younger" and enjoy loud music and the bar scene. A little short on restaurants, unless you are interested in... More

Great place to visit - enjoy the beach and feel like a welcomed visitor. The lowrise buildings give a village feel compared to the highrise structures on Ocean City
