Beautiful, clean state beach with grounds, picnic tables, lovely pavilion and includes a September 11 2001 Memorial. This beach is home to many walks for charities and the annual "Chowda Fest". Worth the visit just for the "Chowda".

From October through April this is a great place to walk with a dog. State parks require dogs to be leashed and it would be wonderful if people followed the regulation. Our dog was attacked by "the friendliest dog" who was off-leash. Soured our experience but the park rangers seem to be more vigilant this year. Aside from that, the... More

I was on a quick business trip and needed to get to a meeting. But really wanted to check out a beach. I saw the sign and turned off the highway. I am glad I did. I did not have to pay. Not sure if that is always the case. Parkin was great. There were quite a few people there.... More

A great State Park with lots of space and a clean, albeit rocky, beach. Visit the 9/11 memorial there.

Well maintained Park! Staff was very friendly - took a walk over to the Nature Center by the East beach - and was delighted to see the amount of info and displays about the history of this part of Ct - was fortunate enough to be right on time for a demonstration and feeding of several of the Center's resident... This park is quite nice and sizable. All walks of life visit this place so you could get the annoying mother with 3 fatherless children running around terrorizing others. However, it's def. worth a drive over, as it's quite beautiful! If you want true peace and relaxation, try Compo Beach!

My family and I have been coming to Sherwood Island since the early 90's and while the scenery hasn't changed the company sure has. There never used to be loud parties of people with blaring music (no, the lifeguards/staff do NOT ask them to turn it down) and the beach used to be a bit more kept up. I still... More

I really enjoy the seashore. Sherwood Island State Park is a beautiful park with restroom accommodations and dressing rooms. As one enters the state park on the right side is a beach with fewer people, no lifeguard on duty, rocky bottom, etc. but there are nice paths for walking. The restrooms are clean as are the dressing rooms. There are... More

Despite the fact that it can get very busy it remains a very peaceful beach. The beach is long, fairly wide and sandy. The surf will have rocks and pebbles but it is great for swimming. Clean facilities and a nice nature center. BBQ spots everywhere on the meadows with trees that provide shade.
