Have been going for years...a great place for a long walk with beautiful scenery and very nice beaches. Water seems calmer and not alot of rocks. The Center there is wonderful for kids. Know they were renovating the Food Pavilion which is great. A lot of parking too. Take my dog when allowed.

We went there today because it sounded like a nice park with the beach on LIS. There is a West beach and East beach. The ranger at the gate told us if we wanted a more quieter beach to go to West beach, we did but we did not get quiet...Many people wit big parties with loud music playing. Now... More

Lots of this area is fee and resticted to annual passes or high daily fees. This is a state park and quite large. They are redoing the concession area and fixing up so it should be even better

Gerry nice clean beach on the Long Island sound. Good for children waves are not to big. Easy parking the fee is by carload so bring the whole family and pay the same price. No consesion stand so bring your own food and drink. There are changing rooms with showers.

I've been going to this state park on the Long Island Sound since I was a kid. The beach hasn't changed much. The roads through the park have, although the parking lots seem much the same. There is still a combination of fields and woods, and surrounding this small peninsula where it joins the land is a marshy area good... More

Beautiful Connecticut state park with a very nice beach. Make sure you bring old sneakers if you plan to go in the water, as the beach is very rocky.

Nice state park with beach. Changing rooms/bathrooms are decent. Beach is nice with tons of shells. Is very crowded on weekends in summer months. Visited once in off season and brought a dog. Entrance fee is a little steep on weekends. Lots of picnic areas with shade.

I love to take walks at Sherwood Island. And take my doggy when able. In the summer the beach is also great. Wish they could've improved the pavilion by now though.

I have been going to Sherwood Island since 1968, beautiful park on Long Island Sound. As are most beaches in Ct. the shore can be a little rocky. Pleanty of picnicing areas, a well kept bathhouse and pleant of parking all make for a great park.
