Reimagining itself in recent years, Westport Country Playhouse is...

Reimagining itself in recent years, Westport Country Playhouse is rapidly emerging as a nationally recognized professional theater. Under the artistic direction of Mark Lamos and management direction of Michael Ross, the Playhouse creates five live theater experiences, produced at the highest level, from April through November. Its vital mix of works---dramatic, comedic, occasionally exploratory and unusual---expands the audience’s sense of what theater can be. The depth and scope of its productions display the foremost theatrical literature from the past---recent as well as distant---in addition to musicals and premieres of new plays. During the summer, the Playhouse is home to the Woodward Internship Program, renowned for the training of aspiring theater professionals. Winter at the Playhouse, from November through March, offers events outside of the main season---Family Festivities presentations, Script in Hand play readings and a Holiday Festival. In addition, businesses and organizations are encouraged to rent the handsome facility for their meetings, receptions and fundraisers

We had the pleasure of seeing our first performance at the playhouse. The view from the seats was very good. The theater itself has lots of charm. But the true highlight is the quality of the performance. Saw Broken Glass and was find the acting and staging excellent. We have signed up for the 2016 season and look forward to... More

This is now the "old Positano" but with a new and revised menu. The menu is quite extensive and will have something for everyone but, the evening that we went the service was very slow and with a 6:15 reservation and the restaurant wasn't full we just made the 8:00 show.

Broad mix of plays. Some are amazing, some are total and complete, perplexing garbage. We just got back from Broken Glass, an old Arthur Miller play. VERY well acted. Not so well written (Sorry Arthur). Bottom line, the best seats in the house are cheap, and if it's close to home, go there. But don't come from NYC you will... More

I have seen many plays at the Westport Country Play over the years and highly recommend this venue to everyone. Every season they have assorted theatrical events and it seems there is something for a variety of audiences. I live in the next town, so for me it is wonderful, and I don't have to take the train into NYC... More

Westport Country playhouse offers enjoyable, high quality theater-- comedy, tragedy, farce and musicals-- for adults and children in a renovated barn surrounded by a garden. It is a treat to attend their offerings, which are usually successful and often quite wonderful. Their "Bedroom Farce" which was the last play we saw was very well done and hilarious. Having a subscription... More

The Playhouse is a great entertainment venue. It used to be open only for the season but it is now open year round. You can buy tickets for a single play or you can subscribe for the entire season with extra benefits included. The plays are top notch productions with casts including both well known actors and actresses as well... More

A great entertainment venue that has grown well beyond its summer season heritage to become a year-round attraction. Aside from the season of plays, the "Script in Hand" series that runs right through the rest of the year on several Mondays at 7:00 is a great, economical and well-attended experience, with great actors working on their night off. There are... More

Enjoyed "Bedroom Farce" at the Westport Playhouse and we are still laughing days later. Every show and attraction is a gem! We became subscribers a few years ago when we lived in Westport. Each season we return for more good fun at this magnificent little country setting on the Post Road, convenient from everywhere. I urge you to plan ahead... More

Saw the play "Bedroom Farce". Had a seat in the front row, on the floor on the right. Would be better to be farther back, you could probably see more, but still worth it. Price was good, show was great quality, and funny. Very enjoyable experience, would do it again in a heartbeat!
