I live 3 miles from Harkness Park and go there on a regular basis. It is great for walking, having picnic's or just sitting by the water. The view is fabulous. The Harkness mansion has been restored and is open to visitors on the weekends with a guided tour. I highly recommend a visit to Harkness. It is a place... More

This is such a beautiful, tranquil park. We visit every time we are in Waterford visiting our kids. Beautiful water views, great walking trails and lovely house gardens. Our granddaughter loves to go here and run free! My son and his family get a yearly pass so they can enjoy the park all throughout the year.

We are locals and use to visit Harkness pretty frequently, this says for itself. Park is well accessible for the general public, has everything for almost any activities - jogging, biking, walking, family celebrations, weddings, beach, garden, spectacular ocean view, etc. Has its charm at any time of the year. Free entrance from September till May.

Well worth the stop! Although CT parks charge a large sum of money to enter state parks, this park offers a beach, picnic areas, bathrooms, walking paths and two mansions (one restored and one not restored) with absolutely lovely gardens. Not to be missed!

I can't believe that I have lived my whole life in CT and have never been here before. What a great place to bring a family or hang out with friends. Plenty of picnic tables and grills or you can just bring your own chairs and hang out by the ocean.the mansion and grounds are beautiful to walk through. Will... More

It's a place for family picnic having nice open wide garden/park and a sandy beach area. A good place for fishing (in North East corner, on the rock), flying kites and beach activities. Swimming is not allowed here. Watched young kinds playing around in groups in the park areas those who were not on the beach. Weekend brings crowd but... More

Went for an afternoon picnic with family. Lots of room to spread out, plenty of picnic tables. Great place for a walk along the ocean, and beautiful gardens too.

We happened upon this state park quite by accident, but found it to be well worth the visit. There is a mansion on the grounds open for touring, but only on the weekend. The beautiful grounds and flower gardens, however, are fully accessible. This park is very clean with rest rooms, picnic areas, and beach access to Long Island Sound... More
