The Avon is a fantastic resource in the heart of Stamford. Almost has a film I want to see meaning I don't have to go to Manhattan just to see a great movie. The owners have retained the old style feel of a classic movie theater meaning in the main hall a huge open and airy movie hall. I LOVE... More

We are so lucky to have the Avon Theater in Stamford. This totally restored 1939 landmark shows the best films as well as cult classics. It is like being at home, and such a nice staff. Popcorn is the best and real butter, or a cup of coffeee or tea. I am happy to support and be a member .

Could use sprucing up a bit. I knew the owner 50 years ago, and seems like not much has changed. Refreshment counter is about five feet wide and popcorn is too salty.

Be a member! You support a great institution, with outstanding movies, and an imaginative selection of lectures by film greats, including producers, writers and actors alike. The theatre is clean and comfortable, with relics of the turn of the (20th) century decor still visible.

I don't think it matters what you see there, Its not your Multiplex,Cinema experience, that we all expect, It was noticed as I bought our ticket for Moonrise Kingdom, where I was greeted by the usher. I noticed the renovated interior, butwith its past architecture in Tack, From a bygone time, I noticed actors and actress posters on the wasl... More

Love the films and the place is nicely decorated. Could you get here and see an avant-guarde or off beat art film, because it's well worth it!

Local cinema that features "art" films ... high quality for "selective" audience. Usually good choices offered.

The Avon is one of Stamford's oldest theaters and it's a true gem. Located on Bedford Street among many great restaurants. This movie theatre does not play commercial blockbusters. They show primarily Independent and Foreign movies. The theatre itself is beautiful, it makes you feel like you stepped back in time!!

This will remind you of the good ol' days of big fancy movie theatres! You will enjoy the experience of being in the theatre as much as the film that you see. Good location near lots of restaurants in downtown Stamford.
