It is the oldest continuously running ferry and a great scenic drive when you get to the other side and make your way through Glastonbury. The ferry itself is an inexpensive way to get out on the water and enjoy a quick boat trip across. The kids always love it and it accepts cars, bikes and pedestrians.

When you have a few extra minutes-take the oldest running ferry from Rocky Hill to Glastonbury and get out of the car and take in the scenery of the CT River for a short ride...better than taking a bridge anyday!

This is a short quick ferry ride to get from Rocky Hill to Glastonbury and/or back. The ferry only holds a few cars but it's a short trip so no real back-up. On the Rocky Hill side there is a small park as well as the Shad Row outdoor restaurant. Bring a bite to eat at the park or have... More

Just a relaxing short ride. Nice change of scenery from the roads. The owner was quite nice too, and charming.

Bring a picnic or grab a bite at the shack on the Rocky Hill side. Walk or ride the ferry and enjoy the cool breeze of the river. Let the kids explore nature.

I usually do this ferry ride once a year on my bicycle when the weather is nice. It is a nice ride across from Glastonbury to Rocky Hill. It is even nice to ride over and back just for the trip.

If you're looking for something out of the ordinary for a special occasion or just for a different mood, you should try dining at Shad Row in Rocky Hill on the banks of the Connecticut River. This restaurant is located adjacent to the historic ferry pier for the Rocky Hill /Glastonbury ferry boat. Outdoor dining with scenery and exquisite menu... More

Gorgeous nostalgic crossing. The ferry only takes four vehicles so there may be a wait, but it's an unsurpassed view if the river and preserves a piece of new England history.

A trip back to when there weren't things referred to as "the falling infrastructure" ---- unless the ferryman was sick. This was the ONLY way to get to the "other side", short of swimming. Go do it if only for the round trip ride. Seasonal, duh! obviously!

Sailing across the narrow Connecticut river between rocky hill ct and Glastonbury the ferry is a favorite. The boat carries three cars at a time and you can leave your vehicle as you cross the river. The kids love it as they get ice cream on the rocky hill side while waiting to load the ferry.
