This mountain is a downright awful place to go if you are anything except for a beginner. And by beginner, I don't mean a "skiing greens and blues in Vermont" type beginner. I mean a never stepped foot in skis, no idea what I'm doing type beginner. This place, which should be called "mound southington" for it has a vertical... More

Great year for ski racing with all the great snow. We enjoy our race team every Tuesday night in January and February. The staff at the mountain are great ~ from ticket agent to lift attendants and inside the lodge. Groomers do a nice job keeping the mountain in tact. I also volunteer for skiers unlimited, which is a great... More

Our kids are now in their 20's but they still have a soft spot for Southington. Our oldest son learnt to ski at Mt. Washington, NH (usually in a blizzard). The younger son was terrified of the big mountain, gruff instructors and freezing temps. We tried other mountains, Sunday River, Me and Bellayre, NY with similar results. We ended up... More

Comfortable not commercialized. Myself, my wife and 2 children 10 & 5 have been here a few times in the past 2 years. The mountain is perfect for toddlers to experts. The Mountain: I consider myself intermediate and it's perfect for me without taking the very steep runs which would be great for experts. There are a few places to... More

I thought the 35$ price tag for a weekday was a little steep, but for what it is and the size of the hill it is just fine. Runs were well groomed. Even more advanced novice skiers will become bored here quickly. Might be worth the extra hour or so up to Butternut if you plan to spend more than... More

This is not a big mountain but it's great for those working/living in Westchester and Fairfield counties. Close enough so you can go there after work. It has night skiing. Prices are very reasonable especially if you get a frequent skier pass. For the warm winters they have good snowmaking and the best part you never spend more than a... More

Mount Southington is great for a short afternoon visit. Lift lines were not long. Prices were a little on the high side for such a small area, but overall not a bad afternoon. Good for if you're just learning to ski or snowboard.

This is a small mountain which is decent for teaching your kids to ski. It is close and convenient to the Hartford area. Lift tickets and lessons are reasonable. Lift lines the day we went were minimal, particularly earlier in the day. There is not a wide variety of terrain, ski runs, or vertical drop. You'll start repeating runs after... More

This place is convenient located right off I 84. Close to home, with reasonable prices and quality services, it will be (from now on) one of our favorite places to go for a long weekend versus a long trip to a overpriced Vermont and its low quality lodging. At Mt. Southington is enough room for beginners as well for advanced... More
