A lot to offer

Much to do in a small area. A work still in progress but surprisingly different than the rest of norwalk

Spent the whole day in SoNo--checked out the aquarium, some local restaurants, and went into some shops. The area is very historic, and you can walk right up to the water in some areas. It was raining a little bit which wasn't bad, but on a nice, warm day, the area would be prime. Give it a shot and check... More

Sono includes the Maritime Center which is why I am giving it a four-star rating. There is also a Swtch Tower museum and one holdout among the retailers on Washington Street, a Touch of Holland, which sells Dutch products and is quite interesting. Chocopologie is also a great place to eat or snack. The SONO Seaport restaurant is also good... More

This was an oyster seaport, so long ago...the center of the main st in sono was full of horse carriages and venders and merchants, a hat factory and corset factory...on the Norwalk river you will find the most exciting restaurants, a martine center and IMAX threater...the famed oyster festival, and lotsgoings on all year...the best chowder and lots of seasonal... Something for everyone here , nice quick bites before a movie or show. Higher end dinning and lots of pubs and bars to whet your whistle. Parking is reasonable from any spot to get to where you want to be. The aquarium is not bad either

Lots of choices and the place rocks till late during the summer. A great stop over if you attend the annual Oyster Fest in October

SoNo has been "up and coming" for so many years. There are definitely some fun places, great restaurants, cute shops. But there is still something seedy about it. Saturday nights can be rowdy to the point of scary with the drunks lurching from bar to bar. If you are in the mood to party it can be great fun, but... More

Pretty streets with art galleries and little hole in the wall places entice the walker, though the lower end past the train tracks can get seedier and the drunks from the bars a bit loud early in the evening. We didn't find any great food, but the area is nice to wander.

SoNo is a nice neighborhood, with good restaurants and shops, but a lot of them are closing down due to high rents. They have a new leasing complex, IronWorks, with a bar, Harlan Publick, and a steakhouse, Washington Prime. Worth a visit.
