Convenient dockside parking, super-friendly crew and guide. Beautiful lighthouse, well- maintained paths for exploring, concession stand and picnic grounds. Well worth while. Great view of many of the Norwalk islands. I bought a souvenir cap in the gift shop, brought a bag lunch. There is an osprey nest on top of the wharf's gazebo.

My friends and I took the ferry out of Norwalk over to Sheffield Island on a lovely August Saturday. The boat ride was a half hour each way and the staff allowed for approx an hour and a half on the island which was perfect. Along the way on the water the captain and first mate gave insight into the... More

The entire ferry and lighthouse tour is ~3 hours. 50 min each way on ferry and and hour + on the island and taking the tour. Perfect amount of time for each. Wasn't too long, you weren't given enough time to get bored by anything and you weren't rushed either. The staff was absolutely outstanding. Very friendly and helpful. Highly... More

The ferry conducts tours to the Sheffield Island Lighthouse. It was a very relaxing 45 minute ride to the island and the tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable, telling us about the interest points of Norwalk along the coast as well as a bit of history on the Sound and the surrounding islands. It is a great way to... More

Visiting this historic lighthouse is easy and well worth it. The ferry trip is about 30 minutes and narrated by First Mate. Staff all along the way are knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The Island is small and pristinly beautiful. There are picnic tables and a concession stand. The tour of lighthouse could include more history of families that worked there and... More

Lovely boat ride and even local people with us found out things they didn't know about their home area. Very informed guide. Plenty of time to have a picnic lunch then a guided tour of the lighthouse before wandering along the nature trail. Even the eco friendly toilets were very clean.

It was a clear, warm summer day-a perfect day for a ride through Norwalk harbor and islands. Our group took the 3:00 boat and headed out to Sheffield Island. The guide on the boat gave an entertaining commentary explaining about history, and birds in the area. Parking was convenient right at the dock of the ferry.

Went on the 3:00 boat. Kids and adults enjoyed every minute. Learned about the oyster farming, osprey nests and more. A great rideable!

This ferry takes you to Sheffield Island. It leaves from the Maritime Center so there is parking available as well as shopping and restaurants in walking distance. The ferry trip was good...a nice smooth ride and the captain points out a few places of interest along the way. The price was fair so well worth doing.
