It was a cold day in the low teens when I was taken to this used bookstore by a local, and I stayed so long my fingers, toes and face went numb! It was amazing, with a huge array of books and a really sweet and helpful staff. The book Barn is now my first stop when I am in... More

The Book Barn is a destination in itself. Not only will you find an inexhaustible supply of books of every description, but you'll enjoy wandering from building to building to shed to cart to browse the collection and enjoy the surroundings. There are cozy places to sit (and read) both indoors and out, a staff that's extremely knowledgeable and helpful,... More

I have been visiting the book barn for 10 years and always enjoy the hours browsing in the odd little sheds that dot the property -Halloween is the best time because of the wild decorations and warm enough to be outdoors! You can always find something at the barn!

Love this place. It was a perfect 10 today. The sun was shining on our backs as we browsed the new arrivals, books were coming in by the wagon load and I was just chilling with my husband. We figured it was the last hurrah of gorgeous weather and so did a lot of other people. Gosh, everyone is so... More

One of a kind find! Eclectic, fun place to visit with so much to see. Don't miss this place! Bought several children's at one dollar each!

Despite having a Nook and a Kindle I still like the feeling of having a book in my hands. I read the E books when the light is poor and real books in daylight. I still love browsing in book stores and there is nothing like finding one you have been looking for for ages. Here in the West Main... More

If you like books, these 4 shops are the places to visit. The main store is an old barn and located at 41 Main Street in Niantic, CT. There are other kiosks and out buildings filled to the brim with books. This place is fun because of the unique and whimsical landscaping, garden decorations and live cats. The other stores... More

The book barn is a great place to visit and find great books. Unfortunately I went to the mid-town store and the customer service was poor. My son came in and closed the door, but it didn't latch. Instead of saying hello, she said "the door doesn't shut itself you know." A simple can you please shut the door would... More

My fiancee has family in the area and we always make it a point to stop at each of the Book Barn stores when we are in the area. They have an incredible selection at affordable rates. The layout and the cats also make for a pleasant browsing experience!

Because this place has expanded into several sites around the town, if you're looking for something specific it's good to know where each genre is kept! Browsing here means coming away with piles of treasures, and considering the vast number of volumes (more coming in every day) is very well organised. Add to that free coffee & snacks, roaming kitties... More
