The Book Barn is certainly a unique and fascinating first adventure. I took over 100 hard cover books to be traded but unfortunately, since they were mostly best selling novels, I was unable to cash in most of the books. However, the service and courtesy of the staff and owner were outstanding. We will certainly do this again in the... More

Credit cards are accepted at several but not all of the locations. I love to read and checked out the Main Street location first. Check the website or call to see where your favorite genre is located. Parking is next to the building and behind the store, though there was limited on-street parking available too. This site accepts credit cards... More

A friend suggested this place and I did not expect anything this big! The prices are very good. There are many $1 books, among which even great titles. The books are organized in various huts. One of them was dedicated only to mystery books! In the basement of the main building there is a whole section of books about the Middle... More

A barn with mystery books, A barn with chit lit, another with books on sports, another with spooky books, fiction and non-fiction, kids books, teen books, paranormal books...... More

Plan on spending hours here at one, or all of their 4(?) locations all within seconds of each other, plan on buying tons - if you like books, and plan on spending very little money! You can't lose! Every conceivable category of books, most in great shape - definitely a destination - - and the staff is very knowledgeable.

Even though I'm not that big a fan of books, I absolutely fell in love with this place. It is not just an enormous book store but a cosy place to spend a lot of time with all those books and just to wonder around in the endless aisles, nooks and gardens. I even found a very unknown book my... More

While camping at Hammonasset State Park in Madison, Connecticut, many years ago, we encountered an overcast day intermingled with showers. What to do with a trio of boys anxious to expend some energy? A friend suggested The Book Barn in Niantic (a 30 minute drive up I-95). The Book Barn is more than a used book store - it is... More

Went here for the first time this year though had heard of it before. What a fantastic place to visit. Our trip coincided with a 25th anniversary craft, fairy garden creations! Crafts aside there is enough here to hold my entire family's attention from 5yo to 40! Love all the kiosks with books and gardens and playgrounds! Just a magical... More
