Chapel St has a little bit of something for everyone. There seemed to be places to eat, drink, shop and to get some culture. Good spot to walk around if you are in New Haven.

Lots of nice shops and restaurants. Only problem is trying to find a parking space. Lots of metered parking, but all were taken.

Chapel Street has lots to look at - many restaurants, coffee shops, book stores and much history as well. Be sure to drop in at Jo jo's for an amazing choice of tea and also Insomnia Cookies for late night cookie cravings!

This is really nice Street with many possibilities - you can rest in the park nearby, eat marvellous food in many restaurants, have a drink in multiple bars and pubs, buy souvenirs or food and pray in the church. Good starter for New Haven visitors :-)

High crime in this area. No police around. Good place to get purse or cell phone snatched. I park as close as possible run in the store and leave fast. I try to avoid down town New Haven as much as possible.

I left it to my son in grad school at Yale to plan our visit to include what he wanted to see more of, and Chapel Street and the area surrounding it became "our neighborhood" for a full day; historic buildings, greens, shopping, bars and restaurants all within a walkable area. And the company was good. ;)
