Walking along Boardwalk - lovely State Park

Great State park that hopefully will not become "commercialized" as the State of Connecticut has plans to do in order to take in revenue.

Silver Sands Park located in Milford Ct is a natural gem. It is a nature preserve on the beach. There is a two mike Boardwalk that has been painstakingly repaired after two hurricanes. It was well worth every dollar spent. Fishing, walking, jogging, beaching. Great place for families. Handicap accessible. Picnic and cooking area

Good location, so far there is not a charge to enter the park. Its a good change of scenery. If you look closely, there is some sea life all over the place. You can take a picnic & hang out for 1/2 a day.

For now it's free, although I hear state has other thoughts. Great place to walk, picnic, enjoy the outdoors at any time. Nice views of long island on a clear day.

Silver Sands is a beautiful area- with a lot of hiking trails, rare birds, and a gorgeous coastal view of the Long Island Sound. There is a dog park there, and it has a very fun boardwalk that connects it near the downtown of Milford until Walnut Beach. It is a great place to get morning exercise, go sea-shelling, hiking,... My husband and I came here several times a week last summer to walk the boardwalk. From one end and back again is about a mile and a half or 40 minutes. There's something so special about walking along the beach--the birds, the smells, the sounds of the water lapping the shore. Only downside: people throw their trash into the... More

Well there aren't many amenities, but there is the sand bar to Charles Island which get a lot of use. It's convenient, and if i recall free... The sun shines the same here as any other beach.... There is a nice long walk you can take to Walnut Beach, and some places for food - Lazy Lobster, an Ice cream... More

I keep going here. The Place is perfect for any age group. Perfect Jogging/Evening walk track, very nice Boardwalk which connects Silver Sand Beach to Walnut Beach. There is a small island as well which is connected to the Beach most of the times when water level goes low. I love that walk. Water is clean and not very deep.... More

We got our engagement photos taken here - a beautiful location. Love the beach, walking out to the island, the rebuilt boardwalk (no attractions, just a walking path through the beach/marsh). Definitely a must-do on a sunny day.
