The breeze coming off Long Island Sound make this a delightful place place to spend a summer afternoon. Bring along beach chairs and enjoy the sand and water.

The beach is very beautiful however the sand was not too clean and I wish I brought along my water shoes to walk around in. The water was also not too clean or clear and you could see and feel everything on your body as you stepped in. The water was suprisingly shallow and there wasn't much currents, tides, or... More

If you are looking for a free beach (free parking+free entrance) this place is for you. When the tide goes out, you can walk up to Charles island. The water is very clear, and warm during low tides. There are picnic tables. The life guard arrives around 10.30. The beach is open from 8.30 until sunset. There are broken shells... More

Silver Sands State Park is a nice option for those visiting CT rather than taking the drive to the Rhode Island beaches. The park has plenty of free parking with a little bit of a walk to the beach but there is a drop off for the beach goodies which made it much easier. The beach was not too crowded... More

The park itself has gone through dramatic changes over the years Family friendly, free parking, limited picnic tables on the grass, but you need to get there early to get them. The path to the beach is a wooden boardwalk and continues along the beach, gets a lot of use by joggers, bikers, etc. especially in the early am and... More

The beach and parking are free. A long walk to a beach that has a lot of stones and broken shells on it. All the kids we saw seemed to be having a good time. Lots of things, snails and small fish and "stuff" in the water. At low tide one can take a walk to Charles Island. It is... More

We visited this beach in our down time after the Fairfield Half Marathon and were glad to be able to explore. A great nature spot with lots of nesting birds and plenty of shellfish to peek in on. There is an extended boardwalk which makes for easy walking and exploring. People were very friendly and more than willing to share... More

If you're a bird & beach lover at the same time this is a perfect place for you.. It's actually a bird sanctuary but you will still enjoy the beach. There's a sand bar to Charles island where you can just walk for 15 minutes to get into the island but just beware of those sharp empty shells. You won't... More

The beach is nice with a long wooden boardwalk ideal for walking or jogging. Nice family spot to walk with kids or just sit n enjoy the sound.
