One of the best ways to see the Great Rann of Kutch, Gujarat, is by attending the Rann Utsav. It is a complete experience in itself and also a great way to experience the desert & Gujarat. It is a very well organized festival. Accommodation is affordable and comfortable with luxury tents with built in bathrooms. Though one doesn't end... More

Visited on 05/03/2011 The Rann of Kutch, also known as the Great Rann of Kutch (there's a Little Rann of Kutch as well), is a remarkable place to visit in Gujarat. Beautiful area, definitely a visit for tourists and residents, visit it on a dry day, or it can be quite mucky!

The Great Rann is a must see experience for the visitor to Kutch! There are several good places to see, but my favorite spot is on the bridge to Kadir island where the ancient ruins of Dholavira are located. The best times to visit are October to March, otherwise it is too hot or the monsoon rains ruin the view.

The destination where you are one with your thoughts with no one else as far as the eye can see. You can stay at one of the villages or bordering accommodations around the White Rann. You can walk for miles on the salt plains or just drive along if you have a four wheel drive. Consider going here early to... More

A unique experience in terms of sight, terrain and geography. Best time to visit is winters. Water receeds and better weather. Idealy club the trip with the famous Rann festival. Dhordo has good resorts with traditional style hut type comfortable accomodation. Tribal music and food is provided by these resorts. Prior permit must be taken at Bhuj to visit this... More
