This wonderful shop is what Madison is all about! The friendly inviting atmosphere just begs you to spend time in every corner looking at books, checking out the pictures of authors who have visited the shop, finding the perfect gift or toy for your favorite child. A special bonus is the cafe located in the back of the shop and... More

Convenient location in the heart of downtown Madison. Perfect stop for half an hour or so when walking down Main Street. Easy and enjoyable to catch up on new releases or stumble upon the right classic you've yet to read. There's some kind of magic at work in stores like this that ensures the right book always finds you.

This is a well stocked old fashioned bookstore with a welcoming atmosphere. It sits right on the Rt 1 at the east end of the main town center. Parking is hard to comedy in front, but ample spaces are in the rear.

My all time favorite bookstore. I can do serious damage at RJ Julia's. This is a great place for kids, tweens, teens and adults- something for everyone.

The staff is friendly and knowledgable and the selection is fantastic. On the rare occassion I can't find a book I'm looking for they will order it and I'll have it in a couplee of days. Also, the staff are readers and leave little mini-reviews with many of the books in the store. All this and readers. RJ's manages to... More

Spectacular independent bookstore that offers the feel of small town charm. An impressive inventory, frequent book signings and a very knowledgable staff make R.J. Julia's more than a local bookstore but a resource for everyone from the avid reader to the well seasoned traveler. A nice place to browse on a Sunday afternoon.

R J Julia's has become somewhat of an institution over the last few decades. One of the few successful independent bookstores around, the store is fairly well-stocked, the staff are knowledgeable and helpful. They frequently bring in big name authors for readings and signings. There is a small cafe in the rear that is not bad. Overall this is a... More

RJ Julia is a fine independent bookstore, one of the few remaining. While we found the staff to be very friendly and helpful, I was hoping to see a few more books in the health section, especially regarding arthritis. They hold many events with authors coming in for book signings and talks.

This is a store a book lover could get lost in for hours! chock full of stuff, but neat and nicely displayed books, gifts, puzzles and cards. Lots of book reviews, called "shelf talkers" that say what the employee has to say about the book to help you discern if it would be a good read. Wonderful café in the... More
