Haight-Brown Vineyard takes great pride in being part of a wine...

Haight-Brown Vineyard takes great pride in being part of a wine industry in Connecticut that is steadily building a reputation in the eyes of those who enjoy the world’s fine wines. Haight-Brown Vineyard, Inc. is Connecticut's oldest winery, opening its doors in 1975. The winery is located in Litchfield Ct. in the northwest part of the state . The Litchfield vineyard grows 45 –50 tons of grapes per year and produces Vinifera wines and French Hybrid blended wines. Retail wine is available for sale and includes the familiar Chardonnay, Merlot, Riesling etc., as well as seasonal varieties such as AppleCrannie, Spring Fling etc. Seasonal events begin with the Annual Barrel Tasting in April, followed by the Festival on the Farm in June, and our Fall Harvest Festival in September. Sales are predominantly from the winery, with some special label business and package store distribution in the local area. The company does not sell out-of-state. Call 860-567-4045 for additional information print and fax our online form . Haight-Brown Vineyard, LLC. is a founding member of the Connecticut WINE TRAIL , where one can plan a visit to the state’s fine wineries. A pleasant and well-stocked salesroom, staffed with courteous personnel, coupled with wine tasting awaits your visit.

This winery was very cool in its design and would remind you of an old school European vineyard with separate rooms for larger parties. My suggestion is to submit your name when you get there if you want to sit down for the tasting...we didn't know and ended up waiting for a while. They have a nice offering of cheeses,... More

This winery has been a regular stop for us on our annual wine excursions. I believe the ownership changed a few years back and the wine improved considerably. Their specialty is a wine tasting paired with cheese and chocolate. A fun activity but a bit pricey. This place can get very busy on the weekends with extensive wait times for... More

Thank you! This is Amy and I am the owner of HBV and have been since buying the Vineyard from Sherman Haight in 2007. I love the vineyard... About four years we started bringing in wine makers from South Africa and that was a big turning point for us. We are currently on our third South African wine maker. Charl... More

We were in the area and decided to give this place a try. Walk in the front door and there isn't really anything. Looks like used to be a meat market at one time. To do a tasting you walk up the stairs. There you sit at a huge bar. $9.40 for a tasting of six wines and you get... More

Thanks for taking the time to review HBV and make the trip to visit. I'll make sure to share the positive comments with our staff . Come back and try the wine again. Usually I here better than that but I appreciate your feedback. We do also try to differentiate with some cheese and chocolate tasting where I personally have... More

Most are here for tastings but we go to sit on the patio in the sun or by the fireplace and enjoy a bottle of wine and there cheese plates. There are also many theme events. Our favorite has been the tapas nights.

We purchased a Groupon to visit this Vineyard in the Litchfield Hills and it was a perfect place to go for a Fall leaf peeping ride and double date. The grounds are beautiful and the inside of the building interesting. There was a good amount of room so you were not crowded in there like some of the other places... More

I was happier just stopping by for a wine tasting. We went this past weekend for their fall festival. Seemed a bit disorganized. Waited in line to get your wine glasses and then had to go to different tents for the wine tastings. There were more lines for the tastings too. The tastings were very rushed. All the food was over... This winery is set in a beautiful area of Litchfield county. There are very old, massive doors leading inside and twin staircases going up to the tasting room. We had a Groupon for a tasting for 2 with cheese of the day (which was 1 little square of cheese each)... Our bartender was very knowledgeable on the subject, but not... More

I'm rating this as "terrible" due to the way we were treated. My sister is pregnant and wanted to tag along with us. Obviously she wasn't going to drink. The lady asked us how many of us there was so she could seat us at the bar and we told her five but our sister would not be drinking beer,... More

Thanks for the feedback. It sounds like a guideline we have needs to be adjusted in how it is applied. We ask that only people tasting sit in the bar stools but that 'rule' created because sometimes two people are tasting out of a group of 4, for example, and they take 4 seats. Your situation was very different. We... More

Walked into the bar area where there were 2 seats which we went over to. A very imperious woman shooed us away saying there were a lot of other people waiting. There were two people looking at merchandise. We sat at the other bar. Bartender was knowledgable but pours were minuscule. We left a substantial tip and did not receive... More
