5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2014 NEW

When I lived and worked in Hartford, I used to take my lunch breaks here and come with friends at all times of year just to walk around and enjoy this sanctuary in the city. Of course, June and July are awesome when the gardens are in full bloom-- I can't say enough about it. We recently took family here... More

Wanted to visit since I saw so many great photos and reviews. This place is probably really nice when in full bloom. But we went this past weekend (July) and everything looked dead or it was on it's way to being dead. I agree with the another reviewer needs some upkeep. It's a nice place to stop and see though... Had never visited Elizabeth Park before although I have lived in CT my whole life. It was beautiful. Lots of activity. Even some brides having pictures taken. The roses were peaking but had we gone a few weeks earlier we could have enjoyed irises and peonies. There is a restaurant named Pond House. Nice setting. There is a venue for... More

Hartford has plenty of problems but, like many small cities, it also has some incredible surprises. My favorite this time of year: The Elizabeth Park Rose Garden. It's one of the largest municipal public gardens in the U.S. and contains many rare varieties. Avid gardeners from Japan and Great Britain come for tours all of the time but locals rarely... More

We had lunch at the Pond House on 6/7/2014 and was looking forward to a post-lunch walk through the Rose Garden. So disappointing to see weeds in the beds and dead branches on the arbors. It looks like it needs some serious attention. I can't understand why it looked so unkempt. There was also a wedding thereon that day and... More

Elizabeth Park is my neighborhood goto place for daily jog/walks and photography! Beautiful, peaceful, with diverse crowds, and Pond House Cafe is a delightful treat.

It was a lovely place but there was no playground or place to swim.People were picnicking because there are no bbq pits but some brought their own.We walked around but didn't stay long because there was no playground for my 5 year old son.He did have fun watching the ducks in the pond.

We first came here two years ago in October. This trip was in May. We have never been when the roses were in bloom. However, this trip we saw the tulips and lilacs in all their glory. What a glorious place! I can't wait to go back for the roses. We sat on a bench right outside the rose garden... More
