We enjoyed our visit to this truly gorgeous building. From our first encounter with the security guards inside, everyone was genuine and helpful. There are tours that start in the LOB lobby every hour between 9:15 and 1:15 on weekdays. We joined one of these tours with a 4th grade class taking a field trip there. I was so impressed... More

Connecticut State Capitol is fancy and impressive. After a brief security check we were free to stroll around and admire the beautiful building. It's open Mondays to Fridays from 9am to 5pm, and there are tours every hour between 9:15am-1:15pm (also 2:15 on July & August). I loved its golden dome and the grand interior made of marble and granite.... More

My 5 Star review is based on the fact that I love visiting state capitols. They are usually beautiful buildings open for free to the public and this one does not disappoint. Here are some tips to make it a good visit: Free parking is available in the lot behind the legislative office building - the new building with the... More

My Dad was visitingn so we decided to venture to the State Capital for some sight seeing. The tour was great (although I think the lady was hitting on my Dad!!) but it was very informative and wonderful., Her knowledge was excellent and she has given enough tours to really enjoy her job and know alot of the facts and... I enjoyed this docent-led tour of the Old State House. It played an important role in the founding of our country and the establishment of our government. It made me wan to go home and review my understanding of early American history. The fee is also quite modest.

I took a free tour of the capitol on a Friday morning. I was actually the only one attending the 9 AM tour. My tour guide said that she normally gives the tour to uninterested elementary school children, but that since I was by myself and appeared interested in it, she really dished out a lot of details that I... It was a little difficult to get to due to road construction but we were rewarded. It had been raining all morning but as we parked the car, the rain stopped. A beautiful building with beautiful grounds. It was also nice that it wasn't crowded into the city.

This is a gem of a building with it's gold domed top. We visited on a Saturday so we don't know if you can go inside on a weekday as all the doors were locked the day we visited. But the building and immediate grounds are well maintained. There was some road construction around some of the roads surrounding the... More
