A great walk

We have walked the park in the dead of winter and in the heat of summer. It is never the same walk twice. For those that like a good hike in the woods, Bluff Point delivers.

I went for the first time yesterday and was thrilled to be there. For a busy August Sunday afternoon it was crowded without feeling that way. A lovely walk along the dirt trail brought us quickly to pebble beaches with many places to swim. I hope to go back with a kayak. It has a trash-carryout policy and people respected... More

We've been to Bluff point to mountain bike and kayak. Both are fun and offer different experiences and great views. There's a nice beach at the point that some people walk to, but it's a very long walk. Bikes make it much faster.

There is no shortage of traffic on Connecticut highways. We were looking for a way to relax after finding our hotel subsequent to a hectic drive. This State Park was about two miles from our hotel and the short drive yielded a wide walking trail that took us along the bluff area of the southeast Connecticut shore. The forested trail... More

We loved hiking here! The trail was easy to maneuver and was a nice, longish hike. We stopped often to look at the water, and enjoyed that very much. There are composting bathrooms conveniently located partway up the trail. I wouldn't say it is necessarily a "beach" because it was more rocky/shelly than sandy, but you could definitely sit on... We drove an hour and 40 minutes to get here after reading on the DEP website that dogs are allowed on a leash. We went, eager to take our dog to a beach. We arrived only to find signs that say No dogs on beach from April to August because of nesting birds. We walked about a half hour to... More

Great place for family picnicking, hiking and kayaking! Trails where you can jog, ride mountain bikes. Dogs welcome but they must be on lease, don't forget to bring your pooper scooper!

This park offers so much for someone who is a little active... trails/paths for running, walking, hiking, dog walking, and biking. There are several miles of trails through the woods. This park is on a peninsula so some of the paths skirt the water making it a very pretty area. There is also a couple places to launch kayaks, canoes,... More

It's a state park, good for walking, biking and kayaking. You are on your own -- no lifeguards, organized activities, etc. Quite extensive, it connects with Haley Farm, and on through the developing Groton Green Belt (due in large part to the efforts of the Groton Open Space Association).

I have been here so many times over the years, but after every visit, it reminds me why I like it so much. This is just a great place to go for a nice walk out to the water. Even in the summer, while it is more crowded, it never feels that way. The hike out to the bluff is... More
