Great variety of apples plus pies, preserves, and other offerings. The shop is well stocked but you can also pick your own apples--a particularly fun activity for families (as are the wagon rides).

Grew up in the area and have fond memories of BJO as well as love of Macouns. Live in FL now, so went as part of our vacation to pick apples and enjoy the fall weather. The orchard is just beautiful and is clearly marked as to where/what is open for picking. Loved that they had some "apple facts" signage... More

It is great fun to take the family here, spend some time in the crisp air, and take advantage of the fresh apples, and other products that they sell in the store.

Blue Jay Orchards is a great place to go with the youngsters. They have seasonal "pick your own" and a nice general store with a variety of baked goods and seasonal items. Their apple cider donuts are delicious. My kids are grown but we still go to Blue Jay for fresh local produce.

However, I am from the country (eastern Connecticut) and this place just seemed like an overly commercialized tourist destination. It was extremely crowded, the donuts were prepackaged and they not made fresh while you waited, and the cider was pasteurized (I can get... More

CT does autumn very well with plenty of apple farms and pumpkin patches. Blue Jay is great for apples because grounds are nice & flat. Pumpkin patch small but cute for little kids. But this place has THE best cider donuts I've ever had!! They're expensive which is why I didn't buy a dozen but now wish I had. A... More

Great stop for a beautiful Fall Sunday afternoon. Fun for the kids, nice selection of fruits, pies, jams, etc. Cider donuts are delicious, all homemade.
