Awe inspiring view of the mountains and this mining operation. The old mining equipment was great, and makes you wonder how they made this stuff back in the 1880's. Worth the time, great view and awesome mountain view.

What a wonderful view, there is no other like it, but if you want to see, you better do it soon. American Eagle Co is going to close the view point for further mining.

Best experienced on a weekday to ensure seeing mining operations underway ! The first overlook is absolutely awesome - on par almost with the Grand Canyon. Late September, when the mountains are cloaked with golden Aspens, is the best time to see !

Travel up past the entrance to the Vindicator Mine Trail outside of Victor to the check-in shack, and head up the winding road to the highest mining exhibit in the area. If you're not handicapped, park in the lower parking area and walk up the railroad tie stairs to the top of the hill. When you get there, you can... More

It took me some time to find it but finally got there. The overlook of the mine was amazing. The abandoned mines along the trail are really worth checking out.

A short drive from Victor. The road to the overlook from the highway is dirt but very wide and in good shape. There are two observation points but the top one is the best. You can also visit the original the original American Eagle structures.

One of the highlights of our trip to the Cripple Creek/Victor area! There is an old mine shaft and buildings to explore. It is at about 10,500 ft so the views of the distant mountain ranges are unbelievable and the overlook into the active open gold mine is incredible. (It is so far down that the large trucks look like... More

Victor is a place where one can just step back in time, let the imagination of the days past, run free. One of the great examples of the past mining history is the American Eagles Overlook, where there is not only an overlook from the top of a mountain, but also well preserved mining structures and old mining equipement. If... More

What a fantastic surprise. We visited Victor and a backers owner suggested we go to American Eagles Overlook. We followed the directions and entered an operating mine (by anngloGold Ashanti) where we signed in with the guard. We then drove up to approximately 10,600 ft. and had fantastic views. Could see mountain tops, working mine, mining trucks, historical mining buildings... More

Outside Victor to the north, signs will take you to the overlook. You pass through the mine's checkpoint, but it's not a problem. Drive onward, carefully, to the top and you'll see all the way to the Continental Divide in the distance, and down into the huge Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mine operations. No admission. Worth the time.
