The first half mile is quite steep, so take rest breaks if needed. The day we hiked it, there was plenty of dog traffic. According to trail guidelines, dogs are supposed to be leashed, but apparently this is not enforced. Be sure to lather on the bug repelllant -- the higher you get the more flies seem to annoy. The... It is a beautiful and challenging hike, especially if you decide to go all the way to the lake. It's crowded in the summer and should be done on a week day with an early start. The proximity to the town of Vail makes it very convenient.

Its a little tough in the begining, But once you get above the front trail to the top it levels out and the views and the hike is beautiful to the falls very narrow trail.

The hike was really close to Vail. Absolutely beautiful but a little strenuous for the kids. The free guide we got from Lakota did say that but I did not factor in the high altitude. Bring your camera and lots of water.

Go early though as it is one of the more crowded trails in Vail. Round trip to the falls and back should be about 3 hours for most folks. Don't be discouraged by the initial steep ascent as the trail does level out into more rolling meadows with beautiful aspen groves. Proceed past the falls to get to Booth Lake... More

You don't have to go all the way to the lake to be rewarded with spectacular views. The valley is wide and gorgeous, and the hike is pretty mild, at least the part that goes to the falls.

Year round this is a beautiful trail to hike (or snowshoe) with a variety of scenery and lots of sunshine. For a more challenging hike, you can go all the way to Booth Lake.
