The admission is free and there are just two rooms in the museum. But there is a good overview of the history of Colorado skiing, interesting artifacts from the early days and a detailed exhibit on the 10th Mountain Division. It's worth a stop if you have an hour.

They have some of the first Burton snowboards on display - very interesting! And good exhibits on the 10th Mountain Division.

Located below welcome center on 3rd level of city parking structure. (Free parking spring and summer) Nicely constructed exhibits. Large display of snowboards. Interesting even for non-skiers. Gift shop with themed items.

This museum covers the history of the 10th Mountain Division who trained in this area for combat, on skis for WW 2. Much of Vail and modern ski resort development in the US is related to the experiences of these men and their passion for skiing. There are also videos of the history of ski racing. Development of snowboarding has... More

The history of skiing, the history of vail, one of the best displays on the history of the snowboard, the ski hall of fame and a museum dedicated to the 10th Mtn Division, a WW2 fighting force that had its roots in the mountains above Vail make a visit here a must.

Don't miss amazing and moving presentation of 10th Mountain Division which played a major role unseating the German army from the Italian Alps in WWII. They were founded and trained in Vail. One or two veterans still active and tell stories here!!!!

The museum really does have some interesting stuff. It is fascinating seeing the old skis and boots and reading about the history of skiing and snowboarding. The museum is well presented and laid out and is well worth a visit for any skier.

The history of the vail resort is well documented and accurately presented. The presentation by a veteran of the WWII Mountain Division on Fridays is especially entertaining.
