Live in Steamboat 6 months out of the year. Have bought lots of soft goods over the years at FM Light. Have never had a bad experience except for tonight. Went in on a Friday night after dinner to find a new flannel shirt for my wife. Browsed through the entire store looking for something suitable. It was filled with... More

Steamboat's family owned Western Department Store that continues to satisfy the needs of the local community. F.M. Light and Sons has always carried quality products and when one compares apples to apples, you are getting what you pay for. To me, the store had the same feel that I remembered and admired when I lived in Steamboat Springs in the... More

The kids loved trading in their wooden nickels they got at the Redo for a gift. The store is friendly and got great western duds.

After driving for what seemed like forever to get to Steamboat and reading all those signs along the way, we just had to stop! The signs definitely made the dative go faster. When we got to the store, we were impressed by the array of boots and other western merchandise that was available. My daughter bought some moccasins at what... More

We enjoyed following all of the signs along the highway as it led into Steamboat. Once we got to FM Light, it was an average 'souvenir type' store. Prices seemed high, selection was good. We did not purchase anything. We did enjoy asking the cashier just how many signs they have (since we saw them coming into Steamboat from both... More

Hello Nathan, thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. We're glad you enjoyed our signs! We are sorry you felt we were a "souvenir" store. We work hard to keep these to a minimum - in fact, many local ranchers purchase items from us which are used in their everyday lives on the ranch. We... More

We saw the signs for miles outside of town. After reading the reviews, we were looking forward to checking out the store. First thing we saw were "authentic western belt buckles" - every one of them was made in China. They had some cute stuff, but it seemed overpriced compared with the prices I see in Texas.

Hello Susan, we are sorry you were disappointed with your trip to our store. We work hard to provide quality western wear for our customers at a good price. In the current marketplace it is difficult to find items which are both made in the United States and at a good price, but we do our best to buy all... More
