Snowshoed Summit 1a and Bruce's trail. Both trails are well marked and are loops. Bruce's trail has a shorter beginner loop and a longer intermediate loop that follows the creek. The Summit 1a loop is approximately 3.5 miles. If you want a shorter hike with amazing views hike to the left and then turnaround after you reach the view of... More

Be Prepared! Definitely be prepared. Food, water and protection. This is no place to get stuck in a bad situation. That being said, this Park is massive! It's a beautiful place to see. The wildlife is vastly diverse. While on our short hike, we had the opportunity to witness a Very Large Moose, in its natural habitat(hence the "short" hike).... More

Well up in the mountains, great hiking around the area. We camped at The Meadows campground in the forest, near the western summit of the Rabbit Ears Pass...7 miles out of steamboat springs. VERY quiet, well maintained campground. Some pull throughs, some walk ins, some back in sites. HUGE sites...well apart from each other. The area is great for photography..many... More

We rode horses thru the forest. The aspens, meadows and pines make up for a beautiful, refreshing ride.

We spent a lazy morning driving around the Routt National Forest, looking for places to hike (and finding them). There are excellent photography opportunities in and around Rabbit Ears pass, along with some easily accessible hiking trails.

Great hiking and camping. Lots of dead trees unfortunately due to the Pine Beetles, but that's Colorado. Campsite was clean and well managed.
