We spent a lazy morning driving around the Routt National Forest, looking for places to hike (and finding them). There are excellent photography opportunities in and around Rabbit Ears pass, along with some easily accessible hiking trails.

We traveled down along the National Forest, views were breathtaking, many places to pull off, saw several camping & recreational areas, well worth stoping along the way !

Great hiking and camping. Lots of dead trees unfortunately due to the Pine Beetles, but that's Colorado. Campsite was clean and well managed.

call me unimaginative, but all national forests are pretty much the same. lots of trees, mostly. streams, lakes usually, bears, deer, and birds. yeah, there's more but that's pretty much it! (oh, mountains too)

We like to spend one night camping on Rabbit Ears Pass each time we come to Steamboat. There are campgrounds that can accommodate motorhomes to tents and even dispersed camping if you don't want to stay in a campground. While your hiking you may run into elk, deer and even antelope. There are lakes and streams that are pretty good... More

The high alpine forest and meadows are beautiful. We visited in late July and the wildflowers were in full bloom. We saw moose, mule deer, a bear, and different birds.

Beautiful area and easy drive for any car. Lots of side roads. . Start out early and take several of the loop roads . Very few people on the roads.

There are a lot of great hiking trails with very easily accessible trail heads. There are also quite a few nice lakes with good fishing and some camp sites for $10 per night.

We rode our motorcycles from Wyoming and this place is absolutely stunning. The scenery is so gorgeous. Everything was so green and such an awesome ride on the bikes. Will definitely be come back.

We camp and fish, all over this forest! This is filled with, Evergreens, Aspens, Willows, Blue Spruce, and hundreds of beautiful flowers. Use wisdom though in heavily forested areas, as there are bears. moose, and cougars out there. Food will always attract the hungry critters, unless it is during the day in a busy camping area. Always be aware of... More
