We spent 3 beautiful days skiing here and it was heavenly. The first day was a beautiful sunny day with lots & lots of snow and the skiing was awesome. The second day it started snowing around noon and it just made the ski runs even better. The great thing about this area is the placement of the lifts and... More

Ended our vacation at Howelsen Hill with an hour of snow tubing. Magic carpet conveniently cuts out the work by taking you to the top of the hill. Guys working at the top were great- friendly and seemed to be having as much fun as the patrons. Fast enough for thrill seekers, but seemed very safe. Didn't see anyone ever... More

We finished our week of skiing but didn't want to just sit in the condo. Just on the other side of the river, in downtown Steamboat is Howelson Ski area. They have a small ski area, ski school and tube hill. I was going to go in my jeans & ski coat until everyone else said they were going in... More

This is, I believe, the oldest ski hill in continuous operation. There is only one lift and the terrain is pretty much what you see. The further to the left you go, the easier the runs down. Especially during after school hourss, you can watch jumpers practicing off the jumping hill. Cheap ticket prices.

We've just spent 2 days skiing here. It's the first time skiing for our 4 young kids aged 2,6,7,7. We chose this spot because the thought of paying USD149 per day for a lift pass at Mt Werner was just crazy especially for a family of 6. We had read that it was a great family friendly spot with a... More

The alpine slide in the summer is a blast. It rained on us on the way up so they shut the slide down. It poured and we ended up having to ride the lift back down in the pouring cold rain. We did finally end up getting to use our tickets and it was well worth it. Please be careful... More

The ski jumping is so fascinating to watch. We always enjoy the competition at Steamboat. Friendly hosts and amazing facilities. One of our favorites for our sport.

We only did the tubing at Howelsen Hill, but I would do it again! It was a great activity on our day off from skiing. So much fun for kids and adults alike!
