Since we opened our doors in 1990, we have been Steamboat's largest full service bookstore and the locals' favorite meeting place for Good Books, Good Coffee and Good Friends. What about our store? We are a full service, independent bookstore, with extensive collections of current literature, fiction, history and memoirs, young adults. We feature a large children’s collection, and our famous treehouse reading space where our youngest children can escape. Our café serves the best coffee drinks in town, pastries, Big Train drinks, smoothies, soups and salads for lunch, and wine in the evening. We are pleased to be serving Storm Mountain Coffee, roasted locally in Oak Creek.

The bookstore portion of the establishment is cute but the selection is a little slim. It does have a decent size used section though. Check that out. The coffee shop portion of the place is more promising with some very nice pastries.

This bookstore is more than just a bookstore, locals love it which is always a good sign. They have presents for tourists, it is also a coffee and pastry shop and you can eat a quick snack that is made on the spot. Very pleasant atmosphere also. I warmly recommend it...

It is always a joy to find an Independent bookstore when one is traveling. This place is very welcoming to visitors and clearly appreciated by locals. You will find recent best-sellers in every category, and the staff recommendations are spot on. There is a "Gently Used" area upstairs amid small tables perfect for reading and coffee. Off the Beaten Path rewards... More

Great books, tremendously friendly and helpful staff, tasty coffee and peaceful atmosphere. Bought two books. Had three cups of coffee and my wife had a glass of wine. We'll go back!

Off the Beaten Path is, as the name implies, just of Lincoln Avenue ("Main Street") in downtown Steamboat Springs. Tucked into a quiet nook as all good bookstores should be, it features an eclectic mix of titles; unique and affordable gifts (great if you're looking for something to bring your Steamboat host/hostess); and excellent food and beverage options. Off the... More

Thank goodness that great independent bookstores like Off The Beaten Path are still alive and thriving. Do not leave Steamboat Springs without a visit here. The store layout has recently changed which made exploring to find out where all the sections had moved too quite fun. Very good sections of local and Western themed titles. Includes a big children's book... More

Off the Beaten Path is everything you would want to find in a small town bookstore, except maybe a fireplace. There is a full coffee bar and snacks with seating upstairs (and free wifi). They have a used book section which is surprisingly hard to find these days. You only get to be #1 on TripAdvisor by being great at... More

On a cold and snowy day, what could be better than to browse the bookshelves of Off the Beaten Path; get a hot drink and squeeze into a cozy table and catch up with an old friend, or read the book you've just found!

Steamboat's lovely little independent bookstore is my favorite part of town. It has a small cafe and cozy places to sit and sip. The folks there are all bookaholics like myself, and they have packed a ton of interesting gifts and cards etc. in with a great assortment of reading material. They will order whatever you can't find, and have... More

Have you walked into a place that seems to cradle you instantly? The staff, like fingers on hands that help at a moments notice; the books in a variety unimaginable for a shop around the corner; love for all age readers; and the cafe that has just what one craves when browsing or buying or visiting describes the comforts of...
