So many trails, so little time ,

So many trails, great views. Muddy or snow covered this time of year in places. Summer hiking maps are not available this time of year.

Very straightforward and easy to follow. You can take the chairlift up the mountain and take the trail down. I tried to take pictures of the bikers in my party, but it was tough to see them.

Over spring break, we went to Snowmass to cross country ski at the nordic center (the golf course and clubhouse facility). The website showed a nice variety of trails, groomed for both classic and skate skiing. And the website showed good conditions and recent grooming. But when we arrived, there was a small, hand printed sign in the window of... More

We came while it was snowing so we had lots of fresh powder! Wow, this place is humongous! Loved it here! Would definitely come back and visit.

It is very nice to know that you don't have to go all the way into Aspen to get some great hiking. There is great trails right at the village and base!

The rim Trail is a 8 mile or so trail down to a lake in the valley. It is a moderate trail. The views are spectacular as you're walking along the rim of the mountains overlooking Snowmass Valley.

If you're there in the summer, this is a great trail to hike or jog. I combined it with the Nature Trail that begins at Snowmass Mall. If you want a complete description, map and pictures of which turns to take, take a look at this posting that I put online: http://www.joggingroutes.org/2013/06/snowmass-ditch-trail-running-route.html

We attempted to hike the Ditch trail with our teenage kids and started out at the trailhead near the parking lot. Once we hit the intersection of the ski hill, there were no signs or markings on where to go. We ended up taking a treacherous, icy climb down the hill, and followed an obvious path (most likely the dog... More
