"A Ride of a Lifetime" Granite Mountain Outfitters horses are gentle and are suited for beginner to experienced riders. Native mountain horses are sure-footed and allow for a western experience of scenic mountain views, wildflowers and wildlife. Horseback rides or trail rides are guided and specialize in scenic rides with personalized attention. From novice to expert we will match the horse, the rider, and the group to each rider's ability. An ideal group size is no more than 4-6 horses; however, larger groups are catered to on an individual basis. Riding helmets are available for children and adults at no charge and are ASTM-SEI approved. The rides leave at 8700ft riding to 10,000ft viewing the Sangre de Cristo's, San Lewis valley, historic Mt Ouray & the Collegiate Peaks. A short driving distance from the Buena Vista and Salida area. We ride with pride and have a ton of fun!

We have explored Colorado in many ways, by automobile, skiing, hiking, biking, but never by horseback. What were we thinking? We had a fabulous time with Sue and Duke (and their dogs Amy and Jake) and had no problem putting all of our trust in them. The aspens were bright yellow and there was snow on the mountain peaks. It... More

Scenery was spectacular. The time of day and the time of year (mid-September) were perfect. The location makes this much better than your average trail ride.

My wife and I had taken two rides with GMO this summer, a sunset ride in late June and an all-day ride in late July. Had a great time with Sue, Don and their crew of wranglers on both trips. I hadn't been on a horse in over 35 years and it was immediately evident on our arrival that Sue... More

Last year we searched high and low to find a horseback riding place that would accommodate our needs and our schedule. We came across Granite Mountain Outfitters and we loved it so much that we came back again this year. The process wasn’t too much different than last year. I contacted Sue by email and let her know what day... More

Absolutely outstanding! Having relocated to Denver, we were unable to bring our own horses, so as you can imagine, we miss riding--a lot. Having found GMO on tripadvisor.com and their being Ranked #1, we booked with them. Since late June, we have ridden twice (June & July) with Ms. Sue and Mr. Don and their wranglers/ranchhands, and in one word--outstanding!... More

We took our grandkids there. Sue was helpful and reassuring. The horses were well-trained, and the location is stunning. We hope to return for another ride soon.

Fantastic Finish to our holiday weekend! Sue was very accommodating for this family of first time riders. She was very patient with our kids and encouraged them the whole way. A very nervous 7 year old was a pro by the end of our journey. The scenery is absolutely amazing. Thanks to Sue, Dakota, Blue-eyes, Houdini, Fred and Winter. Can't... More
