While we take the art of winemaking seriously, we like to have fun too. A favorite since 1988, we're known for pioneering Colorado wines made from local grapes and fruit, with names like Laughing Cat, Cougar Run, and a Dinosaur series. Carlson Vineyards, a small farm winery, produces premium wines in the heart of Colorado wine country above the town of Palisade, at an altitude of 4700 ft. Grape wines: Riesling, T-Red (Lemberger), Sweet Baby Red, Shiraz, Merlot, Chardonnay and Gewurztraminer. Fruit wines: Cherry, Plum, Peach and Pearadactyl (Pear-Apple). Relax and savor the scenic vistas of the Grand Valley and Colorado River too. Located on Palisade's Fruit & Wine Scenic Byway around mile marker 6 on East Orchard Mesa.

Lots of tasty wines

We enjoyed the wines at Carlson Vineyards. The tasting room was pretty crowded when we got there, but we were able to taste all the wines we wanted. Service is good in the store.

Driving up to Carlson Vineyard, you may think that the high reviews have this wrong. You park in front of a nondescript warehouse type building that doesn't look much like a winery, but you would be wrong. Step in the door and you find yourself in a wonderful shop. Ask for a tasting and you walk through the cool inner... More

We were driving the wine road after stopping at a fruit stand and saw this place was open even though it was the 4th of July. I was glad we stopped. They had wine tasting in the back of the facility in the wine making room which made for a great smell while walking back to do the tasting. As... More

My husband and I stopped by on our way to Vail. Off the beaten path, but route 6 has a lot of winery and local orchards/fruit stands to visit! Well worth the drive - not pretentious at all, bought both wines that I tried and 2 as gifts. Would stop by when in the area again.

We like all the wines we sampled in the dry category. It's not fancy but they make good wine. There is no shade for parking and no outside patio to sit awhile.

This was absolutely our favorite! Wonderful selection and conversation. Do not skip this place! The prairie dog blush and Cabernet franc are lovely. The banter exchanged was most entertaining! Next time we'll stay for lunch and a bottle!

Loved the tasting room, simple and sweet. Best fruit wines I've ever had and it's made from local fruit, love that!

We had a nice tasting at Carlson Vineyards. Out of all the tastings we did, they had some of the best variations from dry to sweet. My only complaint was we had to stand at a counter for the tasting (no seating).

It takes a little while to get to this winery, one of the first in the Pallisades, but it is well worth the trip. Some very unique history and great wines. I personally like the Tyranosarus (sp) Red! Carlson's is best known for their fruit wines made from the fruit grown in the Palisdes (peaches, cherries). If you have never... More
