While we take the art of winemaking seriously, we like to have fun too. A favorite since 1988, we're known for pioneering Colorado wines made from local grapes and fruit, with names like Laughing Cat, Cougar Run, and a Dinosaur series. Carlson Vineyards, a small farm winery, produces premium wines in the heart of Colorado wine country above the town of Palisade, at an altitude of 4700 ft. Grape wines: Riesling, T-Red (Lemberger), Sweet Baby Red, Shiraz, Merlot, Chardonnay and Gewurztraminer. Fruit wines: Cherry, Plum, Peach and Pearadactyl (Pear-Apple). Relax and savor the scenic vistas of the Grand Valley and Colorado River too. Located on Palisade's Fruit & Wine Scenic Byway around mile marker 6 on East Orchard Mesa.

Can't say enough good things about Carlson Vineyards! I think of all-around quality, from the charming vintage clapboard cottage to the friendliness found here. As one of Colorado's oldest wineries, they've got their craft down! You'll find well-balanced fruit wines (not too sweet, not too tart) alongside standup reds and whites. My faves are the Lemburger and Cabernet Franc. They... More

Great place with some very nice wines. Cute little shop with really friendly staff. No charge for tastings and no pressure to buy, but we still did because there was 1 we couldn't resist. There's a great outside area out the back where you can overlook the vineyards s d relax, it looked like people had taken their own food... More

We came in because we heard so much about their white wines. We tasted all, and really enjoyed the varietals. Bought a few bottles to take home, still enjoying them. Ladies running the tasting were helpful and nice. A good place to visit on your wine tour, to be sure.

We had a lovely time out back while tasting. Their wines were delicious and while I wasn't expecting to like their whites I fell in lone with their dry gewurtz. and their unoaked chard. We also loved their dry reds and bought a wide selection to take home. The folks there conducting the tasting were very lovely, knowledgable, and helpful.... More

It was harvest time so the place was a-hoppin' with activity. Nonetheless the two staff who were pouring that day were fun and knowledgeable and made it a worthwhile visit. We left with a Lemberger, a medium-bodied red with the fun name "Tyrannosaurus Red", and Calico, a Bordeaux-style blend. Both were excellent and well-priced.

I'm not sure if it was just the time of day we were there, but I felt like we were bothering the woman helping with the wine tasting. Several times she treated me like I was an idiot. I was looking for a place that would ship to my state and you would think that was an awful question. The... More

I don't know if wow is good enough but wow. The two ladies spent a lot of time explaining their wine content more samples then I needed. Really great time and nice wine I bought several bottles.

We stopped by here during a visit to Palisade. They were having the tastings in the back. The man that helped us was so sweet and knowlegeable about the wines. The owner was even back there doing the tastings. They had fun drinks that were made with the wines and had recipe cards for them. While the wine may not... More
