While we take the art of winemaking seriously, we like to have fun too. A favorite since 1988, we're known for pioneering Colorado wines made from local grapes and fruit, with names like Laughing Cat, Cougar Run, and a Dinosaur series. Carlson Vineyards, a small farm winery, produces premium wines in the heart of Colorado wine country above the town of Palisade, at an altitude of 4700 ft. Grape wines: Riesling, T-Red (Lemberger), Sweet Baby Red, Shiraz, Merlot, Chardonnay and Gewurztraminer. Fruit wines: Cherry, Plum, Peach and Pearadactyl (Pear-Apple). Relax and savor the scenic vistas of the Grand Valley and Colorado River too. Located on Palisade's Fruit & Wine Scenic Byway around mile marker 6 on East Orchard Mesa.

My husband and I stopped by on our way to Vail. Off the beaten path, but route 6 has a lot of winery and local orchards/fruit stands to visit! Well worth the drive - not pretentious at all, bought both wines that I tried and 2 as gifts. Would stop by when in the area again.

We like all the wines we sampled in the dry category. It's not fancy but they make good wine. There is no shade for parking and no outside patio to sit awhile.

This was absolutely our favorite! Wonderful selection and conversation. Do not skip this place! The prairie dog blush and Cabernet franc are lovely. The banter exchanged was most entertaining! Next time we'll stay for lunch and a bottle!

Loved the tasting room, simple and sweet. Best fruit wines I've ever had and it's made from local fruit, love that!

We had a nice tasting at Carlson Vineyards. Out of all the tastings we did, they had some of the best variations from dry to sweet. My only complaint was we had to stand at a counter for the tasting (no seating).

It takes a little while to get to this winery, one of the first in the Pallisades, but it is well worth the trip. Some very unique history and great wines. I personally like the Tyranosarus (sp) Red! Carlson's is best known for their fruit wines made from the fruit grown in the Palisdes (peaches, cherries). If you have never... More

Really enjoyed their tasting room and the wines! Service was better than any winery we visited over the weekend. A must stop if you're touring the wineries!

Whenever we are in the area we absolutely make a point of stopping at Carlson to taste the wine and have a picnic lunch in their inviting backyard. They have a large, round wooden table with several adirondack chairs placed under a beautiful shade tree. This latest visit was our 3rd in recent years. We got to visit with their... More

It was seven years prior when we last visited Carlson. They still do the unique, this time it was a chocolate rimmed glass through which to savor their cherry wine. Scrumptious! They do distribute their Laughing Cat wines, and others, so stop at the winery then check your local retailer for more!
