Description:

As Colorado's first and most bee-loved meadery, Meadery of the Rockies...

As Colorado's first and most bee-loved meadery, Meadery of the Rockies makes an array of honey based wines. We start with pure, raw Orange Blossom honey, then ferment it. We also craft fruit 'n honey wines. They're blends of mead and fruit wines such as blackberry, strawberry & peach. We also carry fortified dessert wines. Mead is one of the oldest alcoholic drinks known to man and has a rich and interesting history. Stop in to our tasting room in the heart of Palisade, CO to learn more and have complimentary tastes of our mead.

It's mead, not wine, so it's honey-based and generally a lot sweeter than wine. Their fruit meads are interesting. Not expensive, and the staff are informative and fun.

Hello JoMKess! Thank you so much for your recent review of The Meadery of the Rockies! Sweet stuff indeed! Wine made from honey, rather than grapes is very different and we absolutely LOVE it when folks who have never tried mead stop in for a visit! Glad you had fun. we enjoyed tasting varieties of honey as well as wine tasting. The honeys were local to Durango. I purchased several types of honey. Three bottles of wine. Jellies and gifts.

Three of us did the rounds and visited the winery's for wine tasting. All were good but this one was exceptional! The server was informative but also entertaining. Her name is Terrel and she was so upbeat. We had a great time!

I wasn't sure I would like Mead but I thought I'd give it a try. I found the staff very pleasant, helpful and genuinely interested in teaching you about Mead. I enjoyed both the Mead and Meadery of the Rockies. While we weren't cycling that afternoon, they also have a lovely yard for the cyclist to park and rest in... More

This was by far my favorite winery/cellar/etc I've never had mead before and always thought it was just the beer. Nope. How wrong I was! What a fantastic surprise I visit this quaint and adorably but cleverly decorated brewery. Since honey is one of the staple ingredients in mead the overall theme was wisely... Honey bees! It was adorable and... More

I don't like Mead even after visiting, but the staff was incredible and friendly and they made it worthwhile. I'm a fan of big red wines so mead is too sweet and cloying for me, but the chocolate one is def worth a taste and the fruit-based ones are decent. You have to do this place at least once just... It's not just mead wine that can be purchased here, there are WONDERFUL jams, jellies and preserves etc not to mention other gift items. There are samples out for the preserve. The staff is lovely and helpful (they called around to other local wineries for a particular preserve that I was looking for).
