This is well worth doing while in Ouray. Curt, the creator of this museum is a master story teller who brings alive the history and evolution of drugs and medicine. Not only informative, but great fun as well.

We stopped in here based on other reviews. We were not disappointed! My husband and I were the only ones on our tour and we enjoyed the way Curt presented the historical information in connection with all of the items he has collected over the years. We learned a lot about patent medicines, the power of advertising, and the way... More

The owner (who's name I've forgotten, sadly!) gave us and a couple from Belgium an at least one hour tour and history lesson on drugs and medicine through the ages. He has an amazing and growing collection of pharmaceutical and "quack" medications. Very we'll worth the $7 each that my wife and I paid!

My wife, kid, father-in-law, his wife, and I visited the alchemist during a recent stay in the Ouray area. We had a wonderful time. Different people may be most inspired by different elements of the experience - for some, the many interesting, unique, and surprising stories; for others, the unusual artifacts; for yet others, the realization of how, prior to... Steven, I enjoyed meeting you and your family! So glad that you enjoyed the tour and expressed enthusiasm for the many dimensions of history that I hope to present through the pharmacy museum and tour. The soda fountain is becoming a reality. I have recently acquired an 1893 soda fountain that we plan to restore to working condition. We want... More

As a pharmacist of 37 years, Curt and I share many of the same memories but Curt takes it to a completely different level with his knowledge and incomparable ability to weave the history of pharmacy into his tour. Curt is living his dream in Ouray creating this tribute to pharmacy and his dreams are still growing. Come and visit... More

Mark - Mr. "Easy Money", I am glad that you came and shared your individual experiences during the tour. Thank you for the review. Hopefully we'll see you again. Oh, by the way, I got a soda fountain that will be restored for your next visit. If my Caremark insurance goes up I will know why :) It was a... More

Our hour long tour turned into just shy of two hours as we got caught in the tale of pharmacy in the West. The story and collection was the highlight of Ouray for us and the owner's dream to share his passion is even more of an attraction to take part in! We always enjoy the odd and more eccentric... Melissa, Thank you for your gracious review! I also enjoyed meeting you and spending time with you. The tour is customized so that it can be as long or as short as a person desires. We just acquired the soda fountain I spoke about for the collection. We will get it working so that an old fashioned soda will be... More

The architecture of the building is gorgeous and the museum inside is fantastic! Curt takes his guests back in time with stories of history and deception as he teaches you about how the practice of medicine has changed throughout history. As a future pharmacist, it got me even more excited about the field I have been learning about beginning to... More

The building is attractive and alone merits a stop, but the visit to the museum is a good choice. He has interesting exhibits and he gives a personal tour that is educational as well as interesting.

I don't know which part of this experience was more enjoyable... the one-of-a-kind collection of pharmacy artifacts accompanied by fascinating historical factoids and trivia, or the compelling personal story Proprietor Curtis Haggar weaves into the tour about his relentless journey to fulfill his dream of sharing it. Either way, this unique tour is an absolute blast and will be a... More
