Curt was entertaining and shared interesting information that kept the whole family intrigued. The museum displays are well thought out and items are carefully and beautifully displayed. I highly recommend this tour to anyone traveling to Ouray.

Great collection! My dad's a pharmacist so he found it especially interesting, but anyone interested in history would enjoy it.

Monica, I'm so glad your father enjoyed the tour as I enjoy meeting interesting people that share their experiences. To me the tour is about all of us and how we got where we are today. I hope you all can return to have a magical drink for the soda fountain some day. Happy New Year! Curt More

Curt, my family and I would like to thank you again for the 'private tour' of your museum last week, 12/24/14. Would have to agree with the other reviewers about how unique and informative your tour is. I was going through some photos I took in England a few years ago and came across these photos of an apothecary establishment... More

Joe, Thank you for the kind review. The industrial revolution, yes starts in 1790 and last for many years. My reference was to the transcontinental railroad in the US as it expanded into the 20th century when the US became the world power. The apothecary in Engand probably was started in the 18th century and some items are from that... More

We took the tour at the Ouray Alchemist when we were visiting in November. It was a blast! He has an amazing collection and is a natural story teller. The tour lasted about an hour and it seemed to fly by. He clearly has a very inquisitive nature and really engaged with my girlfriend and I as we asked tons... More

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I found our interaction helpful and fun. We're getting closer to getting the soda fountain to work for next summer. I ,also added a few more exciting patent medicine to tell the story even better. We hope you can return again some day, as the tours are never the same... More

Cherri, thank you for taking time to come to museum and writing a review. I had a great time conversing with both of you. I plan on reading The Silent Spring because of you. On a somber note Theo Colborn passed away Dec 14th. I had the pleasure of talking with her for 2 hours this fall and I hope... More

What a hidden treasure! Much more than we expected and the story Curtis tells for all the interesting pieces of history he has is WELL WORTH the visit! Amazing experience. Definitely worth an hour or longer if you like to interact with your "guide". Not only do you get a general history lesson, you also learn about the evolution of... More

So glad you found the tour fun and informative! It is also alot of fun for me to share the Ouray Alchemist pharmacy museum with the folks that come by for the tour. I enjoy taking people through a step back in time to discover pharmacy through the ages. Thank you for your review. More

This is well worth doing while in Ouray. Curt, the creator of this museum is a master story teller who brings alive the history and evolution of drugs and medicine. Not only informative, but great fun as well.

Jane, So glad you enjoyed the tour! We just got the 1893 soda fountain I am sure I mentioned in the tour. It was quite an ordeal getting it here since it weighs almost a ton with all the marble, woodwork and mirror so I have another story to tell! Hopefully you will return to see it and have a... More

We stopped in here based on other reviews. We were not disappointed! We learned a lot about patent medicines, the power of advertising, and the way... More
