San Juan Odyssey film was really cool explaining the history of the area using historical and modern photos set to music. An easy 35 minutes set in an old theatre using old technology which just added to the atmosphere.

I first saw the San Juan Odyssey as a kid in Ouray, back when C.W. McCall (country singer, former mayor of Ouray) would narrate the show for us. I probably saw it 10 times, at least. It was absolutely thrilling. Still images of the beautiful San Juans and its current and long-gone inhabitants set to Aaron Copeland, overlaid with the... More

the original "san juan odessey" is back after approx. 20 yr. hiatus. this is a multi image production using original or retro equipment of the 1980's! Using 15 projectors and 3 10' screens in true panorama format. The narration by" C.W. McCall" and music by aaron copland and the London symphony make this beautiful tribute to one of the most... Loved the little theatre, and was excited for the picture show explaining the area and set to music. Was disappointed because it sounded raspy, like a speaker was broken. So the voice explaining things sounded gravely. Hope they fix it soon. And we saw scenery in the area that was outstanding, and was hoping to see more of that on... More

Perhaps one needs to be from the San Juans and to have known people like Kuboske's daughter (she was my dorm mom decades ago) to fully appreciate this film. I liked how they played the old tunes at the beginning - I always loved the one about Joe and the Milky Way but had somehow forgotten that this took place... More

They were showing movies by C W McCall. He was famous in the 70's. I like him, you will. Too.

This was probably good 20 years ago. The theater is charming and the couple that run the theater are very nice. But once the "production" starts it is all down hill (pun intended). The production (music and video) are old, just old and faded and not interesting. Ticket prices should be from 1986 - not worth $8.
