We hiked this trail in snowy and icy conditions with snow shoes. Excellent views of the city and beautiful scenery! It's difficult at times so was hard with the snow shoes. If I was to do it again, I would use hiking boots with cramp ons.

Wow, so we were vastly under-prepared for the difficulty of this trail with children. From reading the reviews on here, the trail sounded easy and we had no idea of the challenges we would face. The trail is very steep in places, but the unnerving part is the narrow trail right on the edge of a cliff in several areas... More

This was a great trail for our first afternoon in Ouray. Interesting varied terrain and awesome views of town and traversing the rivers that flow into it. But not as described in the descriptions. Elevation gain was supposedly 800 ft but that's total sum gain ... doesn't take into account the many gains and losses. Guessing we gained "800 ft"... More

A great trip with spectacular views. Be sure to check out the upper falls. You might want to do it in sections but there are places to drop down into town and get back to the heart of the shopping district if the whole trail is not your cup of tea. A good hike but there are times when the... More

We only hiked a portion of this trail, as we started in the afternoon and a lot of it is uphill. We started near the Visitor Center and hiked to the Lower Cascade Falls and then to the 5th Avenue trailhead. Some of the views are simply breath-taking. The trail can be narrow and steep, with big drops off the... More

This is a really nice hike that circles the town with some stunning views. You can access the trail from different areas and then just follow it around - you can also get off and come down into the town if you don't want to finish. One part has some construction and cutting of trees, but you can detour around... More

We walked this trail starting out at box canyon and it was a beautiful hike. The weather changes fast up there so be prepared for rain but it was a great walk. It can be somewhat challenging in places but if you pace yourself it is not difficult. We lost the trail in several places so be sure to bring... More

For a 'walk around the town' this is harder than you may expect, you will need hiking boots and I would advise poles. You will be walking above town on single file trails with amazing views of the canyon and down the valley towards Ridgeway. The steps by the canyon are badly worn and although there a handwires it is... More

We enjoyed this hike, but lost the trail a few times as did some other hikers we encountered. Part of the trail was closed and we were re-routed. Beautiful scenery and weather, but we cut the hike short after 2 hours, and cut back through town to look for a beer.
