It's always a good day for a soak in the clear warm waters of the Ouray Hot Springs Pool! The hot springs of Ouray have been enjoyed since at least the 14th century when native Ute Indians used the naturally hot clear water for healing. Settlers came to the area in the late 1800's in search of gold and precious minerals, and many found comfort in the natural hot springs. The current swimming pool was constructed in the 1920's and has been a favorite destination ever since. Seven different springs supply the pool with water. At the source some of this water is 150 degrees! The pool consists of several sections maintained at different temperatures for different tastes. The hot section is approximately 104 degrees, and a soaking section, perfect for families and prolonged soaking, is typically 95 degrees, or so. The lap lanes and deep section are usually about 80 degrees in the summer and fall, and cooler than that in the winter months when there is snow on the ground. The Ouray Hot Springs Swimming Pool is an outdoor pool open all year. Many people enjoy the pool the most in the winter, after a day spent ice climbing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, skating on the local ice rink (skates are available to rent at the Hot Springs Pool), or simply as a place to relax and enjoy the splendid scenery of the San Juan Mountains.

The hot springs are among the better ones I visited in Colorado. The facilities are good. The pools themselves are big and vary in temperature from 66 to 104 degrees during my visit. They are very shallow, only 2 feet everywhere. The water seemed very clean but also didn't smell sulphury as you might expect from a natural hot spring.... More

We took advantage of the warm water after an afternoon of sledding. It was quite a new experience to be soaking in a large pool with lots of other people; when there is a foot of snow on the ground with more on the way. My hair was frozen but everything else was toasty warm.

we live equi-distant from O H S and the Glenwood H S. when younger, "the kids" preferred Glenwood as, I think, it was more of a "Coney Island" big-deal circus environment. Ouray is more ... tranquil. less expensive (last I knew). and though Ouray -- town -- is smaller than Glenwood, there are still several good restaurants (a few more... More

Great place to relax and enjoy the mountain views. This place is prepared for tourists and locals alike. Hot pools are clean, several temps good for all. There's lockers, towels, swimsuits, showers, and more.... you won't be disappointed!!

Awesome hot springs. Only issue I had was staff constantly asking us how old my daughter was. Kids <7 have to be within arms reach of a parent. I get it, safety first. When you have an 8 yr old that is an awesome swimmer in a 3 ft pool, with only 15 other swimmers in the giant pool constantly... More

While maybe a little pricier than we would have preferred, the pool certainly provided hours of entertainment for our 3 kids ages 10, 9 and 6. There are 3 different pools at 3 different temps so there really is something for everyone. We'd go back here again if we're back in Ouray. Towels (and swimsuits) are available to rent.

The little town of Ouray is a little piece of jewelry in the middle of the huge mountains. We explored the box canyon and surroundings, The trees were already changing to the fall colors, The only thing that concerned me was the terrible accident that happened in the Animas river where a lot of polluted water was discharged a few... the various pools with varying temperatures were very nice in the cool fall evening weather. not sure i have ever seen life guards in parkas before. we could see where this would be a very fun place for families given the various pools. it was relaxing and we were glad we tried it out however we like our hot springs...
