This is one of my favorite spots in southwestern Colorado. The scenery is beautiful, the trail is easy, and it's never too crowded. My only regret is that I haven't done more hiking in the area. And don't forget to visit the hot springs pool while you're in Ouray- another favorite!

If you are visiting the Ouray area, Box Canyon Falls is a must! Beautiful, beautiful trail and natural waterfall features. I love that this isn't much of a man-made attraction, just natural beauty at its best. The short hike is perfect for families (wear tennis shoes or hiking shoes). Plan to spend at least an hour at the area, if... More

This is the more spectacular site I have ever seen. The water that rushes thur the mountain for thousands of years is mind blowing. The neatest thing in Ouray, CO. A must see!

Great for kids of all ages. Look for the black swift nest at the bottom of the stairs by the waterfall.

My husband and I visited both lower and upper Box Canyon Falls. The falls are spectacular and there is no problem for people to traverse the stairs to the lower falls. However, if you go to the upper falls...that is another story. It starts with stairs and then becomes a stone and loose gravel path. The path also has some... More

Beautiful. We were in awe. The hike was easy and well worth the effort. Be sure to take a jacket as there is a lot of cool spray at rather base of the falls.

That was a quote from our children once we had left the falls and could hear eachother again! There is still quite a bit of snow in the mountains, so runoff is still strong and the falls are roaring. It was spectacular to see the power of water at work. Obviously, be careful as you get closer to the falls... More

Short hike to the falls but pretty cool to see. We were there in June when runoff is strong, falls were roaring! It's worth seeing.

I liked the fact that you did not have to walk very far to see the falls.there were lots of birds and champions around. Not crowded at all, which made it twice as nice.
