Visited the beautiful falls today and was awed by nature once again. There are two trails - one which takes you to the bottom of the falls, and another which goes to a bridge over the falls. The man taking money does tell you that there are 100 steps and around 200 ft altitude gain on the upper trail. What... More

Not worth four dollars, it's better to stop on 550 and see the actual waterfall. The hike is pretty, but other hikes in the area are better. Save your four bucks and stop on the highway.

WOW! This a must do if your in Ouray. It's truly an amazing work of nature and possible to explore top to bottom by works of man. The best $4 I've ever spent. It's a short walk to the bottom and breathtaking beauty. Bring your camera :)

We visit this park every time we come to Ouray. This park's centrepiece is a roaring waterfall that has cut into the rock. We go to stare, and listen, amazedly at the ferociousness of the fall. It is very humbling.

Box canyon, on the edge of town is a must if you are visiting Ouray even for a few hours. It is at south end of town, just before the highway climbs. A short walk brings you into a REALLY box canyon. At the end of the walkway you will see some of the falls and definitely hear them. For... More

Nice place to walk and enjoy the beauty of Ouray's river canyon - the roar of the river through the hole in the rock is deafening during high water in spring or after a storm. There are picnic tables with a view over the town and a walk/stairway up the canyon to get an even better view. The view over... More

We like to stay off beaten path in Colorado as my husband is from Cedaredge. But this little cayon is charming and worth it to see. To maney people for us though, once was enough.

The main feature of box canyon is a waterfall that has cut its way about a hundred feet or so into the cliff side. A walkway has been cut into the side of the cliff so you can approach the waterfall. Metal stairs then take you very close to the bottom of the falls. The thunder of the water echoes... More

Viewing the waterfall is a quick and easy hike. The hike up to the overpass bridge is short as well, but steep. Wear good shoes and go early, since it is the path is narrow and becomes crowded.

This is one of my favorite spots in southwestern Colorado. The scenery is beautiful, the trail is easy, and it's never too crowded. My only regret is that I haven't done more hiking in the area. And don't forget to visit the hot springs pool while you're in Ouray- another favorite!
