We had a blast (pun intended) getting a tour of the Bachelor Syracuse mine. Brad our tour guide was a character out of central casting of a hard rock miner. The 1500 foot walk through the mine really gave you a sense of what a 'walk to work' would have been like for a miner. We learned a lot about... More

The Bachelor - Syracuse mine tour is interesting, informative and a bit of an adventure for any who have not had the hard rock mining experience. The tour involves a guided walk into a silver mine that was started in 1884 and operated until 1984. During this period many millions of dollars worth of silver, gold and other minerals were... More

We really enjoyed this tour. You walk quite a ways back into the mine and then watch the guide demonstrate tools and talk about the life of the 1890's miners. What a crazy life it was! The guy running the front shop was very friendly and helpful. We took the last tour of the day and our guide was a... More

My daughter found a flier for this mine at the Colorado Visitor Center which inspired our trip to Ouray. The flier showed people on the mine cart but when we arrived they were no longer using the cart so instead we walked into the mine which was fine. Once inside the mine the guide gave a bit of background on... More

When I searched for 'things to do' in Ouray Co I didn't see this tour but instead found it listed under 'activities'. My wife and I decided to give it a whirl. It doesn't look like much when you first drive up but after all it's a mine. I didn't have high expectations but boy was I wrong... Our guide... More

Over 4,000 ounces of gold and 21,000 ounces of silver were mined from 150 mines around Ouray since the 1870's, and the Bachelor-Syracuse mine tour gives an outstanding description of the life of miners, the risks and rewards, and the culture that shaped the town. It's only an hour, but it goes fast. You won't be disappointed.

We went today for the 10 o'clock tour. Our guide was very friendly, entertaining and knowledgeable. I didn't catch his name but he has tattoos on his arms and ear gages. Stop out, and do the tour and learn about a single jack and a double jack!

My kids saw this during our stay in Ouray. On reading the reviews, the owner comment in 2012 gave me pause, but it was close so decided to take a chance. The owner that is there now is not the one who made the comment and he is currently running this as a family business. In the area, the breakfast... More

I have made several trips during the spring/summer through Ouray and each time have visited this mine each time. I never get tired of hearing about our American history and growth of Colorado. I am amazed that they have the same prices each year, and you cannot find a better price for breakfast anywhere else around. Not to mention how... More

Eggs to order, camp potatoes with peppers and onions, bacon and sausage and biscuits and graveyard. All for $4.99 to $7.99 small or large order. I bring my family every year. The new owner is keeping up standards. We were not disappointed. So good.
