Visited my son recently in Denver and we drove to Manitou to hang out for the weekend and decided to see Pikes Peak and we loved it! The conductor and guide were fabulous. I would do this again for sure. The views going up are so beautiful and can not put into words!

The Cog Railway is the largest in North America and takes you from the station up to the top of Pikes Peak at more than 14,000 feet. The temperature variation is significant – even in the summer but particularly in the fall where it can be in the 70’s at the base and in the teens and snowing at the... More

Forget the drive to the top ride the COG! The train ride takes you up to Pike Peak in slow motion so you can take pictures or just enjoy the view. The employees narrate along the way the history, scenic views and even inject some humor. Plan on spending 3 hours and be sure to reserve your seats ahead of... More

Rather than driving the twisty turns up to Pike's Peak, we took the railroad. The scenery was magnificent and the train narrarator was both delightful and knowledgeable. Ours was the second train of the day and only the first to reach the top. Snowfall the night before had not yet been cleared from the track for the first train, so... More

I took the Cog Railway on October 12, 2014 and it only made it up to about 11,600 feet due to snow on the tracks and a broken snow plow train. They don't reveal this on their website. The view you get is OK but not nearly as good as when you get to the top at 14,115 feet from... More

Cog railway is interesting to ride up the steep grades to the top of Pikes Peak. Great scenery, and we had a good narrator who broke into song at times (she has a good voice.) At the top, there is a gift shop, with snacks available. At over 14000 feet, some needed a sniff of oxygen, but the facility has... More

A nice train ride via a Cog Train ride, up to the top of Pikes Peak. Popular with locals and visitors; should make reservations to ensure a place on train. In the midst of Manitou Springs which is nice to stroll along main street for a bit, too. Many tourist shops.

For those who are skittish or inexperienced driving mountain roads, the Cog Railroad up Pikes Peak is the ideal way to experience the top of the Rockies. The well organized, well staffed trips are fun excursions as long as the weather cooperates. The day we went up was a sunny day and a bit hazy, but the following day it... More

We decided on the cog railway rather than driving to enjoy the view and relax. We had a great time! We saw deer and Rocky Mountain sheep both on the way up and on the way down. The Aspen trees were wearing their golden coat and were beautiful. Upon our arrival at the top Pikes Peak was shrouded in clouds.... More

After researching the Colorado Springs area we came across Pikes Peak and the COG railway. We phoned up to book and although the cost was very reasonable with a separate charge for parking after experiencing the trip I would have paid more for the experience, it was brilliant. The railway runs all year round and the day we went although... More
