The ride each way is over an hour, and you only have a half hour at the top. This is arranged by the Pike's Peak train company based on your departure time - you don't have a choice to take a later train back down. So you have hundreds of people all getting off the train, and they insist you... More

We and two granddaughters rode the Cog Railway on July 3rd. We saw deer and a dozen marmots on the way up, and we saw 8 Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep at the summit. We had plenty of time at the summit to take photos, have a snack, and wander through the gift shop. This was a highlight of our 4... More

The ride up the cog railway was lovely. The conductor was knowledgeable and polite. It took about an hour and 20 minutes to reach the top. The views in the morning were fantastic. We saw sheep and a yellow bellied marmot near the top of the mountain. At the top, there is a restroom and snack bar along with a... More

We took the cog in July, and it was a great ride. We drove up through some mountains in Hawaii and also through Rocky Mountain National Park, so it was nice to enjoy the view without having to worry about the drive. They cram quite a few people onto the train...I wish there would've been more room between the benches,... More

They won't refund your trip if you must cancel, there is a $5.00 per ticket cancellation fee if you cancel in time (which you probably can't cancel in time). The website doesn't tell you about this policy on the page on which you are instructed to call or make an online reservation. The policy is hidden on only the "home... More

Pikes Peak Cog railway was really awesome and I feel bad to only give it a (Very Good) rather than excellent but the Parking issues were insane and something reasonable needs to be fixed. Perhaps there is a free shuttle from someone but it is not advertised. We bought our tickets in advance to assure we would have a ticket... More

Fantastic ride! We were worried about altitude sickness, but everyone was fine. It was a beautiful, clear day, and it was chillier on the way up than it was at the top. The views were amazing! Because the weather can change quickly, I recommend taking an early ride. Donuts - eh - nothing special. Booking online was easy. Fabulous experience... More

This is a great experience taking the cog railroad up the mountain where you spend time at the top restaurant/restroom/gift shop. The people who run the railway are very knowledgeable and it's a fun trip.

This was one of the highlights on our Colorado trip. We made reservations online several days before. The original time we wanted was not available when we booked, but was available 2 hours later. We called and they changed the time without any problem. We took an early time (9:00am) so that we would have the best chance at beautiful... More
