Having made over 3000 trips, I never tired of the view. Seeing 180 miles to curvature of the earth is a trancendental experience. Having also worked as a copilot on passenger submarines in the Caribbean and Hawai'i this is the BEST value for the money. Get the right conductor who is informative and funny and it is magical. September is... More

Our trip was shortened due to snow drifts but was able to climb almost to the summit.. The conductor was entertaining and the sights were breath taking. However, the seats among the train are a little uncomfortable to say the least but not a big deal at all.....just amazing views from the cog!!!!!!

I did this twice this year. In July and in November. Both were amazing, although different trips due to time of year. (sunny vs snow) I will do this on every trip to Pikes Peak. It is way better than driving and every experience is different. Cant suggest this highly enough.

We are an East Coast family with a 4yr old and an autistic 11 yr old. There is no doubt this is a MUST DO if you are in the Colorado Springs area. The views are amazing. DEFINITELY bring layers. It was literally FREEZING at the top and very warm when we started. Engineer was very knowledgeable. My autistic son... More

Pikes Peaks, an historical mountain at over 14,000 feet above sea level. It was the aspiration for the song "America the Beautiful". On a clear day you can see numerous states. To see it from the ground and looking up is majestic. To see it from the top and looking down is amazing. There are many ways to get to... More

I went with mother in law wife and daughter and we had a great time. Our engineer was very knowledgable and funny. He described so many things to look at and our conductor would slow down on sections so everyone could get pictures and for description to given. There was someone at our hotel that went on the train after... More

The cog railway is a great experience, lots of fun and informative as well. A "cog railway" is a specially designed train that is designed to make steep vertical climbs. There are several in Europe but only a couple in the US. The trip to the top of Pike's Peak takes over an hour, but the scenery is nice in... More
