We took the Pikes Peak train with our three teenagers and everyone said it was their favorite thing they did while in the area. My husband, who was sure that driving up was the way to go, even admitted that the train was better. Fantastic views both going up and coming down. Definitely take warm clothing, though, and bring along... more

We booked this trip several months in advance on line and had the first two seats in the front row of the train, so we had a completely unobstructed view all the way up Pike's Peak. The tour guide, Jill, was very informative and funny. The trains were completely full. We did this on the second day of our stay... more

Everyone should have a chance to see the view from Pikes Peak and the Cog railway is the best way to get there. Hosts provide a great bit of facts on the history of the mountain and the railway. Go early, we went at 8 a.m. (and enjoyed a $5/each discount coupon). On way back, many more people were headed... more

Incredible views, informative commentary and snow ! what more could you ask for? My kids had never seen snow so it was thrilling when we got off the train and they could make some snowballs! Not enough time at the summit so don't waste it buying coffee - get your photo taken in front of the pikes peak sign then... more

We took the Cog to Pike's Peak in early May. Breathtaking! If you are in the area this is definitely one of the things that should be on your to-do list. But first check their website for coupons and reservations. Secondly, ask if it's actually been making it to the top of Pike's Peak. The day we went was the... more

This was by far the most unique and memorable attraction on our trip to colorado. You get to ride a cog train all the way up to the top of Pike's Peak at 14,110 ft. The trip up took about an hour and 20 minutes. Our guide pointed out all of the unique rock formations and sites on the way... more

September 13, 2008 we rode The Cog Railway to the top of Pikes Peak. Made our reservation for the 9:20 trip @ $30.50 each about three months before. When I went to get the tickets they said we had the TWO side...I knew the THREE side was better. I asked them to try again. This time the three side came... more

This is the ONLY way to go mountain climbing. Forget hiking or driving up twisty turny mountain roads with no guardrails. Take the train to the top and sit back and enjoy the view! But, listen to the reviews. Bring a warm coat and ONLY sit on the 3 passenger side, not the 2 passenger side. Since the seats are... more

Rode the Cog up Pikes Peak and found it to be an awesome experience. We definitely did not want to drive up! Scenery beautiful. When we reached the top it was foggy and they where shutting down the road up so anyone who had driven up had to be escorted back down.....so glad we did not have to deal with... more

If you don't want to drive or hike up Pike's Peak, the cog railway is the way to go. It's a cramped, jostling ride so sit with someone you like. The tickets are pricey. So are the gift shops. The scenery is wonderful and there's a lot to see. We introduced ourselves to some of the people sitting around us.... more
