Since 1956, Lake Mancos Ranch (now re-named the Majestic Dude Ranch) has been offering our guests a home away from home in the Colorado mountains 35 miles west of Durango. A week-long, all-inclusive dude ranch vacation provides families with a lifetime of memories, whether that means long rides on a mountain trail, guided mountain bike tours, hikes in the neighboring national forest, catching a rainbow trout along the banks of a cool stream, lake or river, or just relaxing by the fire with friends. « less

Made reservation with Majestic. Tried to get two single rooms in the main ranch, but was told I would given a 2 room cabin. Received call back two days later and told I would have to share a room and told my only other option was to cancel as there were no longer single rooms available. More

We received a request from this gentleman for a two bedroom cabin due to a snoring condition. We were unable to place him in a two bedroom/bath cabin since they are for five people or more. We immediately apologized and made sure his money was refunded same day. Furthermore, we have never asked a guest to share a cabin outside... More

I'm writing this review a little late, but better late than never! I stayed at the Majestic for six nights in July. It was my first vacation solo and I was a little nervous about it. It turned out to be the best week ever! Loved the staff, the scenery, the food, and the other guests were fantastic. The owner... More

There was never a dull or unoccupied minute on this wonderful vacation, except when I chose to be idle. The activities were plentiful and varied, but the atmosphere of the Ranch was relaxed, and focused on accommodating the client. Robert was like an old family friend, making sure his guests were having a good time. Friendly and supportive, he went... More

We just returned from our one week stay at MDR during one of their adults only weeks and we had a wonderful time. We stayed in a clean, comfortable, and roomy cabin surrounded by beautiful pine trees. Every time the ranch bell rang we were gathering to either eat or do some fun activity such as horseback riding, mountain biking,... More

FYI, Majestic Ranch has just been selected as the setting for the upcoming movie, “Out West”. This alone should tell you that this is the way a dude ranch ought to be, and sets it apart from the competition, but our personal experience underscores the fact. We have just returned from the first week of the adult season. "FUN" doesn’t... More

We visited the Majestic Dude Ranch for a week in late July - early August 2011. We had a blast and would definitely go back. Here are our thoughts on the ranch. The cabins are comfortable but not swanky. If you're looking for Ritz-type accommodations (marble counters, 5 million thread-count sheets, etc.), this may not be the place for you.... More

This dude ranch has it all - horse trails for all levels, kayaking, incredible mountain biking on state of art bikes, fly fishing, activities for kids, barrel racing, delicious food and a caring staff. The owner even has built a baseball field for old fashioned family fun - baseball and kickball. This is guaranteed one of your favorite vacations. More

We had a great vacation - 2 families, 5 kids aged from 7 to 17 and of course 2 big boys in their 40s. Horse back riding, fishing, kayaking, dodgeball, movie night, rodeo and baseball all rolled into one fun week. The food is homestyle, familystyle and GREAT. Love that there is no soda for kids to hype up on.... More

What do you do with 40 teenagers for an afternoon in Mancos, Colorado? Have fun and dinner at the Majestic Dude Ranch of course! Robert, Ali and the whole staff went above and beyond in so many ways; they fed us a fantastic BBQ dinner that was, I quote one of my students, "the best hamburgers I have ever eaten... More
