If you like to hike amist trees and streams this is not the place for you. It's more open and breezy. The trails are well maintained and well traveled. You can get a great work out here...just gotta beware of the occasional mountain biker passing you by! In the heat of the summer you might come upon a rattlesnake or... More

Nice short hike that's close to town. Winding trail that slowly elevates. Key hole spot great for pictures.......but keep a watch out for rattlesnakes. They have been known to invade this trail. Easily accessible from hwy 34 which connects with I25.

A great way to see the area, as this trail connects on to Fort Collins. Many runners, people with dogs. Fall colors were fading but still beautiful. Very well marked. Wide-open, so could get warm in the summer - bring water with you.

This trailhead is very easy to find, just drive West on US34, past Wilson Rd, and a few miles further on your right you will see the sign to Devil's Backbone Trailhead. The hike itself is easy, trails are very clearly indicated, and the imagery is outstanding. Perfect for a family outing, even the little ones can handle this trail.... More

I love this trail! The terrain is interesting. Very open trail along Devil's Backbone which is a unique geological formation that allows us to see what Colorado looked like when dinosaurs walked the earth. There is a dinosaur print visible about halfway up the trail. A beautiful vista is Keyhole, an archway made of rock about 2 miles past the... More

This is a great close-by location to go for a run, walk or Mtn bike ride. You can go as far as you want as the trail connects all the way to Ft. Collins. It is also very pretty. The downsides are that it is very hot in the summer and the Mtn bikers are taking over, which can be... More

This is a great place to begin a hike to get used to elevations before heading on up to RMNP. Wonderful views. Bring a walking stick and in the summer/fall be mindful of rattlesnakes.

If you have a love of nature, and love hiking, this is at worst a great 'starter' hike for anyone not yet acclimated to hiking in the mountains. On the other hand regardless if you are ever going to hike in the mountains or not, this is a gem. If you have the time and inclination, you can continue to... More

Lovely views along the trail and especially from the overlook and the Keyhole in the Devil's Backbone rock formations. Very close to town, and perfect for a quick stretch of the legs and fresh air. You can go much farther than the one-hour round trip I walked up to the Keyhole and back, and I suspect the entire trail is... More
