Can't say enough good things about our recent trip on this train. So much better than similar excursions we have been on--easy to book, easy to find, everything you need pre-trip (very clean bathrooms, water, small shop in the depot, friendly employees). Lots of seating options--no roof, roof and windows, roof and no windows, plus food, water, bathrooms etc on-board.... More

The train ride was very relaxing - and a nice way to see the country side without straining out a car window. The views were lovely. We enjoyed chatting with other travelers on the ride back to the station - learning where they were from and places they had visited. If you're thinking about zip lining - there's a package... More

Very professional outfit and great energy/customer service. Incredible ride through mountains. We drove over Independence Pass to get there and it was worth the drive. Very reasonable prices and there's a snack bar and open coaches. You are inches from trees and see things you don't get to see anywhere unless u hire a Sherpa.

The scenery was very beautiful. If you have kids that love trains definitely take them here. The staff were extremely friendly. It is a very relaxed ride at 10mph, all the kids I observed from 2-16 were quietly sitting next to their parents taking in the scenery or posing for pictures. If you want a change of pace from a... If you don't have the funds to ride the Durango Silverton, try this instead. The scenery is beautiful and the price affordable. This is one of the best kept secrets in Central Colorado. It isn't very crowded or touristy yet which is great!

We were in Leadville to climb Mount Elbert and were killing time the day before. We decided to finally take this train trip. There are several open-air cars to choose from--some are covered and some are not. Seats face both sides and you are able to move about as the train is traveling. The conductor tells interesting facts about the... More

The ride was pricey, but I'm sure it is not a cheap venture to operate. The train rode on the side of a mountain to the end of what is left from an historic railway that linked Denver with Leadville during the mining boom. The train has both open and enclosed cars. Great for the option of getting out of... More

Four retired ladies chose an outing which included the Leadville train trip up to the Continental Divide and back down to Leadville. We opted to sit in the engine with the Engineer on the return trip. He was just great -- personable, informative and willing to answer our many questions. Sitting outside in front of the engine was more fun... More

This ride is fantastic. The conductor and narrator knew her history and was very informed, the views were spectacular. It is a nice day trip from Vail where we stayed. We went to Leadville by taking 91 and returned by taking 24 north which was a very scenic drive with some great views. I'm so glad we took this train... More

At first, I thought the cost was a little high but once we got back from the trip, my mind had been changed. Its not cheap, but worth the money. A long train ride up the mountain with wonderful views. The conductor was VERY nice and had so much knowledge. You could tell she really loved her job and took... More
