I have always loved trains and history of them. This is the first train ride i have ever taken. It was well worth the $35.00 per person, both my wife and myself enjoyed ride, loved the scenery and the people who were working on the train. I would take my grand kids on here in a heartbeat.

While in Colorado my wife and I did four different styles of train trips. This was definitely the most forgettable. The views were fine, but not great. The first 15-20 minutes is all trees and run down houses. You can't see anything. The lady who does the narration was cheesy. The seats were not nice. They were waterlogged and my... More

We chose the10 am train on a beautiful August morning and enjoyed every minute of the ride. There are enclosed cars as well as open air cars. For an additional charge you can sit in either the caboose or engine. The views are spectacular and the pace is pleasant enough for really soaking them up. If you're in Leadville take... More

I highly recommend this scenic two and a half hour railroad trip through the Rocky Mountains. You travel through the pine trees and the Aspen, enjoying the wild flowers and the fresh country air. They have enclosed as well as open cars and they serve snacks and soft drinks. You can also arrange to get off and ride the zip... More

I recently visited Leadville during Boom Days and took my wife and parents on the Colorado & Southern Railroad tour. This 10:00am tour lasted a little over 3 hours and was very enjoyable in the open air car as we had perfect Colorado Mountain weather and the wildflowers are in full bloom. There is a short stop at the water... More

About two hours from Denver and a world away is a great 2 1/2 hour trip into the mountains around Leadville. Train goes slow, nice views but sit on left side of train if you want to see the valley views. Food and restroom available on train, open gondola cars as well as some with roofs. Worth your time, some... More

Went in late July. Appreciated the open windows. Every view was breathtaking. Great chances for pictures but you can't dawdle about taking them. Or else you'll get a lot of pictures of trees. Some people brought their dogs. Very dog friendly. However, we left ours at home because she would have been locked in a hot car while we wandered... More

A very enjoyable trip! We enjoyed the scenery and the conductor's narrative. After the trip we had lunch at the Delaware Hotel and we were given a 30% discount on our meal for mentioning the train ride.

Great fun, very well run and the staff really do make it an experience. If you like trains go do it and if you like scenery go do it.

We enjoyed a visit in late July. The weather was not the best (sprinkle rain). However, the conductor made us feel very welcome and we went to the car closest to the caboose. My husband does not like screaming children and there were a few, however, we still had a enjoyable time. If your kids love trains, this is the... More
