Came tonight and saw “Something Rotten” with zero expectations other than to have a good time, and left feeling very enthusiastic about not only this production, but the Company and the quality of work that gets done here.

Excellent acting, mesmerizing sets, and big sound orchestra- just top notch from start to finish. Having lived in NYC area for twenty years, I’ve seen a few good shows here and there, and just can’t say enough good things about this Rep.

Not only is this a great thing to do while in Grand Lake, it’s a REASON to go to Grand Lake.

We saw Mama Mia and were very dissapointed with the production. They transformed a great musical into burlesque. The sexuality was offensive. Opting for spoken lines or choreography that are cheap is poor theater. Lacks class. We were very glad our teen had opted not to attend. I would discourage anyone from viewing the production. And I hope they do not do that with all their productions.

We’re sorry that our production of Mamma Mia was displeasing to you, but I feel required to point out that what you have said is simply not true. We at RMRT did not “transform the musical into burlesque.” As with any production of a play or musical, we are contractually required to present the script and music as they are written by the authors. No theatre is allowed to make changes to the script or music. If you have seen Mamma Mia on any other stage (not the movie version), each production is presenting exactly the same script. We have not “opted” for any lines—the lines are provided as part of a script. If you’ve seen Mamma Mia in New York or Albuquerque or here in Grand Lake, you’ve heard the same script. If you thought the script was “cheap” and “lacked class” in other productions, I can understand why you’d think it again of this production, yet I’m not sure why you’d come to see Mamma Mia again if you thought it lacked class in other stage productions. I assure you we did not add any lines to the provided script. Since you didn’t comment on the performance quality and production values, I’m hoping that you thought the singing, acting, and production values were of high quality. I hope you would agree with us and be able to recognize the outstanding performances that we’re proud to present at Rocky Mountain Rep. Finally, I’m sorry that you have discouraged other potential patrons from coming to see this production. I hope that you’ll recognize that people with different levels of taste would very possibly enjoy this production. As you can see from the other reviews of the same show posted here on Trip Advisor, there are several people giving it 5-star ratings. Thank you for your feedback. Perhaps you’ll look at our other summer offerings (Disney’s Newsies or the 60-year old classic West Side Story) and come see another show at Rocky Mountain Rep. --Michael Querio, Executive Artistic Director, Rocky Mountain Rep

If you are in Grand Lake in the summer, do not miss seeing a show at the Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre!! An unbelievable night of professional theatre. My family and I were very sceptical about summer stock being avid theatre goers in Denver. The performances rivaled anything we've seen from the Broadway tours that travel through. And the amazing thing is the young actors do all three different shows in true repertory!!

Don't miss this hidden gem!!

On my annual summer visits I have always seen the fantastic casts and choice of shows "par excellence"! Recently I saw "Always, Patsy Cline" sung and performed before a country band, and both Patsy and Louise were perfectly portrayed in a lovely treatre with visible seating from every corner. Summer theatre at its best!!!

Changed our itinerary when we saw "Almost Heaven" was at the Rocky Mtn Repertory Theater, a play about John Denver with 29 of his songs in it. It was outstanding, we had been to the theater once before 7 years ago, they did their plays in a library or school, at the time we were awestroke at the talent. The new theater is beautiful and again the talent of these young people is amazing. Wish I lived close by so I could go see it again!

I love theater, and when I visited my friends in Grand Lake, they told me that I would love the Rocky Mountain Rep. I smiled and thought "sure!" To my surprise, the performances I saw were wonderful. The set, staging, and acting were par with anything I have seen in a larger city. Hats off to the town for attracting such talent! :)

We go to every play, every season. We are always pleased. Every seat in the theater is a great seat. The acting is great and well rehearsed. My personal favorite part is the dancing. I feel like I am getting big city entertainment with a small town closeness and price.

We are new part-time residents in Grand County and the rep company was recommended to us by neighbors. We first saw "All Shook Up" with visiting guests and were so entertained that we promptly bought tickets to see "Addams Family" and "42nd Street." Also stayed after one evening for the special solo sing by the cast in the lobby. Talent is incredible and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We are from the east coast and found the rep company productions as professional as the many shows we have enjoyed in NYC.

We recently attended a performance of 42nd Street at RMPT. Everything about the show was outstanding. The performers, sets, costumes and musicians were highly professional. We wish we had bought tickets ahead of our visit to other shows. Unfortunately for us, they were sold out. Plan ahead and buy tickets online before you leave home.
