Part of the Jefferson County Open Space system. Good variety of trails, open meadows and shady areas. Busy park especially on the weekends, year round. Has 2 entrances (East, West). If you meet your party at the park, make sure you specify which entry and trailhead you will be meeting at. Tent camping possible though you need a permit prior... More

A wonderful open space near my home. Several trails that you share with both horses and cyclists. Reasonable elevation gain, great views of the mountains and the eastern plain. Dog friendly (but please clean up after yours to the benefit of other hikers. Goes through private land so stay on the trail.

Back east there are few if any parks that allow horses the way they do in CO. I think that's great, though I didn't see any at the park when I was there. It's hard to find any spot on the Front Range that affords a bad picture taking opp. I had a great, short stop here on my way... More

White Ranch can be entered from the top or bottom. If you go in from the bottom, you can do some nice loop hikes and get a good workout by hiking to the top. While the views at the bottom are just ok, as you go up, they continue to improve. Near the top, there is great variety of terrain... More

We loved our hike in White Ranch Park - the views were spectacular! Not too crowded, yet close to Golden and its many galleries and shops. Wonderful experience!

This open space park is located near Golden off of Hwy 93 with easy access. The hiking is great - good climbs that get you to a great view and then back behind the hills for a feeling of being away from it all.

It's a bit of a distance from Golden to this park, but worth the drive. The drive in itself is beautiful, just keep your eyes on the winding mtn road! The park has a variety of trails from very level to a moderate incline. I have taken my kids there many times and have not seen all that is to... More

White Ranch is a massive trail system; it's easy to get away from the crowds. Most of the trails are technically easy or moderate, but the technical and hard descents are ready when you are. The climbs can be long and challenging, so a green biker might be happier elsewhere. But when I'm looking for what can be made to... More

Obviously, if you visit Golden, there are miles of trail to be hiked. This is Colorado, after all! You might pass up visiting White Ranch Park thinking it wouldn't be worth the effort. It is. Proof positive that you needn't drive for miles on clogged I-70 to have a rewarding outing. This day, I met up with a group I'd... More
