I had expected breathtaking views from the top. This is not the case. Beautiful views on the way up, but take in those moments. Don't wait or hope for more at the top, you will be disappointed. We have a Nature Center back home (Ohio) and this seemed as wonderful as ours. But we weren't there to visit another Nature... More

Thank you for visiting our nature center Angela. We're sorry to hear that you missed stopping at some of the vistas up our beautiful mountain. The top of the mountain does offer several “lookouts” as its namesake would suggest. From our nature center, you can see through the trees with close to 360-degree views. Buffalo Bill’s Grave and Museum (located... More

This was a very interesting and informative center about the nature around that area. It had very nice displays, and they were very realistic and educational. It was very clean and emphasized recycling and taking care of the earth. Nice quotes on the walls.

This place is nice and 'personal'....the whole area is pleasant, the Nature Center is green (interesting to learn about), and the exhibits are nice and informative. Not a huge place, but found the whole area 'restful'. Check out the wildlife photos from their tree-cam.

Was neat to be with someone who could tell us about the town below, but no breath taking sights like I expected.

I loved the photos displayed on a big screen television near the entrance. These were taken using a motion sensor camera, and they featured mountain lions, elk, mule deer, fox, coyote, etc. They also had displays of mountain lion feet and other useful information about the wildlife and terrain. I hiked the Lookout Mountain trail and enjoyed it!

Thank you for your visit and your review of Lookout Mountain Nature Center. Next time you're in the area, we recommend attending one of our free, public programs. Sometimes they are offered right at Lookout Mountain Nature Center while others are offered at Jefferson County Open Space Parks. Wildlife tends to be a very popular topic for these programs. All... A few taxidermied animals, binoculars that did not work - average displays. No views from the visitor center. But they did have bathrooms and trailhead maps.

This is a beautiful nature center and well worth a stop. The gentleman working was very courteous and helpful. When you go, take the time to watch the playback of wildlife caught by their cameras. Very cool! We were especially intrigued by the mountain lion kill sight and the bear digging in the dumpster. Great facility!

This is a place I've been to many times with my kids from toddler-age through preschool. Short, easily-marked trails are fun mini-hikes for the kids and - very important with potty-training children - there are nice clean bathrooms in the facility. Inside the nature center there's a fun room for kids with animal bone specimens they can handle, nature books,... More
