My father is a huge train fan, but I must my kids and I enjoyed it just as much. My kids were excited to look inside as many of the trains as possible to understand the train system at that time. The layout that they have in the downstairs of the building is amazing.

Steam locomotives are always impressive, but the Galloping Goose is an unusual part of railroad history. Expect to spend an hour or two walking around the property, looking at their exhibits. For model railroaders, there is a large layout on the site

This is a great museum. Real antique trains outside. Call ahead for days when they have steam trains running. Inside there are great model train layouts.

Having grown up with Travel Town in the Griffith Park area of Los Angeles both my wife and I were disappointed at the dilapidated state of the grounds. The high ride ticket price yields you three times around their little circle track. During the Thomas event they gear everything to get your kids to throw five tantrums -- four "scavenger... More

Thank you for visiting the Colorado Railroad Museum during our 13th annual Day Out With Thomas event. In addition to the 20 minute long train ride (we have received many compliments for operating on a loop track, allowing children to view Thomas during the entire event instead of just at the boarding area+) each Day Out With Thomas event ticket... It was a Very Educational "Walk" thru time to see these Vintage Locomotives, Diesels, and the Garden Railway. Traveling especially from N.TX to see this site was Amazing. I would recommend this to any and all RR people to see, its like a suburb from Denver, about 20miles away. Make sure you also see the model display in the lower... More

Visiting the area and from the UK, called by not to ride but to visit gift shop, I wanted to purchase several books from your shop. It was 4pm and you had Thomas the tank event on, parking at the museum had been restricted to staff only, why thou? Surely make your staff park out of town and catch the... More

I am sorry to hear you had a bad experience. Unfortunately we do not allow parking on-site during the 6 days that Thomas the Tank Engine visits the Colorado Railroad Museum in September each year. I am glad to hear you were able to purchase your books. More

my wife and I stopped by one day and the place wasn't very busy. We had a great time looking at the trains and thinking about their history. The set up inside was very nice and we spent probably 2 hrs looking at everything. I would recommend this place. It was worth the time.

Visited the museum today with grandkids kids ages 3, 6 and 8. The last time I was there, about 4 years ago (used to take my kids there often), it was still really fun because there were several engines and train cars we could walk through, which enabled us to imagine how it was to ride in them long ago.... Thank you for your review, I have passed your feedback on to our management team. Currently we do have several cars open each day including to steam locomotives with bells that kids can pull on. While our selection of open cars varies by day we are working hard to restore and open more pieces. Have a great day! More

Easy to get to on a lovely property surrounded by the mountains. Highly recommend if you are a train buff or have children that enjoy the old trains.
