This 'museum' is more of an interactive train playground. They have many cars for kids and adults to explore. They run their engines and have a regular schedule of rides on weekends. I've been to the Denver area twice in the past three years, and I've visited the museum both times. A working turntable and roundhouse, excellent exhibits in and outside of the station, lots of steam locomotives and cabooses, occasional opportunities to ride the rails, a beautiful Colorado setting, and two fantastic model railroads made this a great place to visit.... more

This museum is a must for railroad fans. They have an eclectic collection of cars and engines, both standard and narrow gauge. There are also exhibits inside and a model RR in the basement. Wear good shoes, since you have to wander around on the grass, hillsides, etc. to see the equipment up close. more

We went on Father's Day and it was free for all fathers. Great place with neat stuff for all ages. Steam engine ride was cool and history of rail travel was interesting. more

We love trains and have been to train museums all around the country. This one has lots of trains crowded onto a small amount of land. The best part was the outdoor scale model train layout that had 4 trains running at the same time - over bridges, around trees, etc! Cool! Inside are displays of old train memorabilia.
