This place is located outdoors and is filled with old trains. Some are still in great shape, some not so good. Some you can wander through and have a seat and others you just can see from the outside. It was a fun way to spend a few hours.

I added the CRM to our Denver vacation itinerary because of our six year old son's love of trains. My husband and I were surprised at how much we loved it too. The museum grounds have so many trains from yesteryear that you're inherently transported back in time. And everyone who works there is super friendly and accommodating. We were... More

Small railroad museum in Golden, CO. Nice museum with a nice variety of historic railroad equipment on display. The equipment is mostly dispayed outside and is self guided unless they have volunteer staff available. Most of the trains are viewable only from the exterior. Be aware that you are outside on a gravel surface with very little shade, so it... More

Thank you for visiting and leaving your feedback. Later this month we will have a professional landscaper on-site to re-build the picnic area around the new 40' x 80' shaded picnic pavilion (completed in July 2015)! More

My kids and I both enjoyed our morning at the train museum! I took my 5 year old and 3 year old daughters. There was plenty to do...climb on and check out some of the trains, go on a train ride, see a model train display in action, explore old and refurbished trains in the train yard, check out the... We have visited several railroad museums, and this one was by far the worst. Very little of the railroad equipment on display has been restored in any meaningful way. Only a few of the locomotives and cars were open so you could go into them. There is little variety. You can learn some things about the history of railroading in... More

Thank you for leaving your feedback. I am sorry you missed our volunteer work crew in the round house (on-site most Tuesdays through Saturdays). The busiest shop day is usually Thursdays. More

We visited as part of a family day with my mother. We had a 12 year old boy and a 17 year old girl. I have to say it was fun for the whole family. I recommend taking the train ride, it was well worth it.

This is a neat place to visit. It's like going to a giant rail yard. They have a lot of historical railroad equipment, related to the history of Colorado. Impressive ho layout in the station basement! A must for the railfan!

I could see some of old stuffs in this museum. As others mentioned, I also noticed that stuffs in outside are not properly organized. This needs to be managed well to maintain the quality.

The Museum has a lot of rail equipment but it is very badly organized and not well maintained. It is like visiting a railroad yard with old equipment not a 100% maintained and dirty. It is not worth going to visit the museum.

Thank you for visiting. Currently a number of pieces of our equipment are being moved around the grounds to new, final display positions and we have recently completed construction on new display tracks throughout our grounds. I hope you will visit us again in the future after our current construction and landscaping efforts are complete! More
