Every time we go through Denver, we stop here. My first trip to Denver was the first time I saw mountains, so I guess it's a little special to me. The views are amazing; you can see for miles!

The view is amazing. My kids and the family I went with were in aw of the mountains. Some had snow on them. It was a great trip but if you are not accustomed to the altitude like we weren't then you need to drink lots of water and be prepared for headaches and chest aches.

Lookout mountain is the peak located in the Colorado rockies front range immediately to the west of Golden, Colorado. It can be accessed by 1-70 four miles west of Golden, or by taking the lookout mountain road a mile south of Golden off of US Highway 6 (which is the better sightseeing route, affording vistas from Golden to Denver, to... There is much to do but too many bicyclists that rude and think they own the road, especially from Buffalo Bills Museum west to US40. They are crazy and usually ok on the east side in the Lariat Loop because everyone is going slower and sharing the road because it is narrow. The view from any of the stopping points... More

So probably not the MOST EXCITING mountain or view in Colorado, but we only had the afternoon and for a short drive it was spectacular! We were able to see absolutely gorgeous views, do a little (really easy) hiking and stop in Golden on the way back down for a coffee and snack. Coming from Chicago, it was just a... More

It's what the name says it is. It's a small montain where you can sit on a rock and gaze out over Denver and it's surrounding areas. For western buffs, you can visit Buffalo Bill's grave here and go to the tiny museum built in his honor ..

This was so much fun and some great views. If you don't have the time to drive to Pike's Peak let alone the long drive to the top of it this is a great alternative. Check out Buffalo Bill's grave too. There is a great shop and museum and great views of Golden and beyond. Food available in the gift... More

Drive West , up the hill from Golden on the Lookout Mountain road. It is a narrow winding road with switchbacks, there are several places to pull off the road to enjoy the view.

we are in the area from Texas visiting our son and had several hours on our own so we drove up the mountain a day after new snow fell on the ground. It was a beautiful day! The drive alone is worth the trip - just outside Golden and Lakewood...go up to the visitor's center, take your hiking boots or... More
