Drive West , up the hill from Golden on the Lookout Mountain road. It is a narrow winding road with switchbacks, there are several places to pull off the road to enjoy the view.

we are in the area from Texas visiting our son and had several hours on our own so we drove up the mountain a day after new snow fell on the ground. It was a beautiful day! The drive alone is worth the trip - just outside Golden and Lakewood...go up to the visitor's center, take your hiking boots or... More

I wanted to get a great view of Denver as we were leaving and we happen to see the sign to Lookout Mountain off of 70. It was a little of a detour, but well worth it. It was not crowed at all. This is a must stop while you are in the Denver area.

If you are planning a visit to Denver add this to you travel plans. Beattiful 360 degee views to include both Denver and Golden. If you have time, come back in the evening to see the endless array of lights! It is said that you can see four states from this viewpoint!

Nice views, not too far from Denver, some hiking trails, worth a stop if you have the time... I recommend driving up one side and driving down the other side, the road that goes from golden to lookout mountain has the best views of Denver

it was a bit overcast but the view from up top of the mountain was beautiful. The weather was gorgeous the day we drove there.

Even if you only have limited time in the Denver/Golden area, I'd recommend a side trip up to Lookout Mountain. It is an easy drive, and although the road has a few twists and turns, it is navigable and easy compared to most other high-mountain ascents by car. Allowing for bicyclists on the road going up can be a challenge,... More

Do the Lariat Loop, too, if your time permits. The Buffalo Bill Cody burial site, and gift shop is worth a stop even in the COLD weather. We saw deer, and an Apert squirrel to reward our travel in 1 degree weather with snow.

Gorgeous views. Enjoyed the drive up the mountain. Lots of scenic pull offs. Was amazed to see many people running or biking this steep road. Truly enjoying all of Colorado's mountain scenery so far. Buffalo bill museum and grave at the top for the history buffs.
