Wanted to drive up to Mt. Evans but it was closed for the season already. Then wanted to do the OMG Rd but it's advised for 4wheel drive only. So then we found out about Lookout Mountain so we did the Lariat Loop drive - a 40 mile scenic drive between Golden, Morrison & Evergreen. We started out from Golden... More

Started a two week trip through the west by visiting here. Very well preserved and the views were spectacular! The museum gave us information that we didn´t know from Buffalo Bill and his show and set our vacation up perfectly.

What no one tells you and you drive and drive in circles...Look for the nature center, park there, then cross the street...that is the picture perfect spot you are looking for! The nature center lodge was an amazing eco friendly structure with lots of educational information and great guides. I loved to watch the night cameras and the wildlife they... More

Up in the pine trees, gorgeous view of the valley of Denver/Golden, Colorado. Interactive center was closed, restrooms were open. Hiking and biking trails available. Deer sighted along the road.

Beautiful scenic drive to the top. Be cautious of cyclist going up and down on the road. Visited the nature center, but especially enjoyed hiking one of the nature trails, enjoying the natural beauty, wildlife, and wonderful weather. Visited Buffalo Bill Cody's grave and museum. The museum was very informative and had lots of great displays.

You can drive up one side and down the other for variety. From 1-70 it is a quick, pleasant drive. The road UP to the top from the City of Golden, is beautiful, winding, and worth the trip. There is an interesting museum on Buffalo Bill up top. A snack bar and best "junk" souvenir store in the state. If... More

Great for photos - we did the drive twice. It's a fun drive - windy roads, close to the edge. We recommend for everyone when you are staying in the Golden area.

Serious hiking (a lot more than a stroll in a park) offered along a variety of trails and the views from the road are spectacular.

Take the half hour for this lovely drive and your life will be enriched. Watch for the bikes. The Buffalo Bill Museum is a take it or leave it type of place but definitely go for the drive up and back and stop to experience the view for a few minutes. There were several trail heads that also looked inviting.
