Be sure you are acclimated to the altitude before taking this hike! The trail climbs over 1000 feet in about a mile. But it is well worth it; it is one of the best hikes in Colorado for the tourist/traveler. And not only is Hanging Lake beautiful with its falls (Bridal Veil Falls), but just a few minutes and a... Take water and a snack and enjoy the hike up to Hanging Lake. Really great place in the middle of no where. Beautiful trails for the hike up.

Hanging Lake and the trail were great. We got to the trail head around 9:30 and there were only a couple cars in the parking lot. The trail is 2.4mi roundtrip and there is about 1000ft of elevation gain from the trail head to the lake. This hike was quick and very scenic. The lake was beautiful. We geared up... More

good climb about 2 miles all up hill which we liked, the parking lot can get very full during the summer so be prepared to go early in the morning or on a off day weekend. We also like this hike in the winter and there is no problem with parking then but it can be slick.

There are tons of reviews already, but after reading through a bunch, felt the need to add my 2 cents! Hanging Lake is just gorgeous - and I may never hike up there again but it was completely worth it! It's nearly 4 miles, I believe, and much of it is fairly steep. Someone mentioned it wasn't good for kids... More

It's just over a mile hike through a gorgeous red rock canyon with a green blue river showing you the way. I went in the winter and it was pretty awesome, during the summer it would be absolutely spectacular! If you are anywhere near this place you have to go, it's a must see.

The lake is beautiful, as is the spouting rock just away. Yes, the trail is steep but well maintained and safe.

3 Reasons to Hike to Hanging Lake 1. It's a short hike (but strenuous) - The hike up to Hanging like is just about 1.2 miles, and there is a lot of bang for the buck--TWO waterfalls at the end. 2. It's got shade. Most hikes out here in Colorado are exposed to the sun. Most of this hike follows... More

Visited Hanging Lake in early November and it was the most memorable hike of my trip to Glenwood Springs. I somehow managed to be the only hiker on the trail early in the morning. I started around 8:30am. The hike isn't too strenuous... although, I did see a few folks huffin' and puffin'. Make sure to bring plenty of water!... More
