Get there early or late on a weekday. Any time of year is beautiful, summer is overwhelmed, especially on weekends. If you get there and the sign says no parking, leave and try again in a few hours. be sure and go to the waterfalls above the lake, especially in spring.

The idea itself is wonderful: climbing a 1000 ft mountain to see a hanging lake is like a dream. The you see the beauty, clear water, waterfalls, green trees. What else can I say?

This short hike is easy, up until the end. For shorter people (like me) it was a little difficult to climb the gigantic man/made rock stairs, but it was doable. This was my second time going and it never gets old, I will go again. The lake at the end was beautiful and was partially surrounded by streams and waterfalls.... More

Beautiful, amazing trail! 100% worth the short! steep hike. Make sure you go up above the falls to spouting rock too.

Absolutely amazing! The hike is not difficult if you are in reasonable shape, it is all up and rocky but nothing crazy except for the last 100 yards but there are handrails to keep you from tumbling into space. Make sure you go up the trail behind the lake for a really cool waterfall that you can walk behind. it... More

Starting at a parking lot off of Interstate 70 close to Glenwood Springs, this 1.2 mile (1.9 km) trail ascends rather steeply along a small stream bed following a narrow canyon, covering 1000 feet (300 meters) altitude. The end is marked by a small lake the beauty of which is almost guaranteed to take your breath away. Towards the end... More

Difficult trail but beautiful. The walk alone up to the trail was great for the kids. Lots to see and fun.
