Get there early. Parking lot fills quickly plus less heat in the am. Difficult hike. Dont miss sprouting falls.

This hike is a must do. Beautiful! Dogs are NOT allowed (and really not appropriate becuase it is so rocky). It takes 2-3 hours to do this hike - 1.2 miles up and then 1.2 miles back down. It is steep and rocky, but so worth it!

What a gem! This is one of the more picturesque places we've seen in the US. Hike is fairly difficult (not for the weak of heart), there are a lot of rocks and steep inclines. But, if you're up for it, it's totally worth it. Bring snacks and lots of water (and hiking poles if you've got them). Get there... More

My family and I did this hike as part of a family vacation and we absolutely loved it! We got there at 8:45am and the parking lot was already pretty full- GET THERE EARLY! or you might miss out.. The hike is only a little over a mile long each way but it is difficult and steep- make sure to... More

This hike is not for the couch potato. You need cardio, hiking shoes, several days of elevation acclimation, water and a hiking stick. If you have that, and aren't Afraid of walking along a ledge with a handrail at the top, then go for it and you won't be disappointed. Tips: 1. Get there early, really before 7:30 am if... More

AMAZING! Ran the Aspen Valley Marathon and sucked up our soreness to hike this trail. Well worth it. Approx. 1.25 miles to Hanging Lake, pretty steep incline on the way up and decently rocky. Bring water! We are pretty athletic so it took us 40 minutes to get to the top with stopping for scenery pictures. You hike along a... More

Wow! Incredible destination. The hike up was pretty difficult with a ton of stairs made out of rocks but the lake at the top was so worth it. We went in early July it was a pretty hot day but you follow a creek almost all the way up and the water is super cool which creates a nice breeze.... More

This was one of the highlights of our trip to Colorado this summer! I have an 8 year old girl and a 6 year old boy who are pretty athletic- we took our time and they both made it up without any complaining- which is big because my kids can whine! They loved that they had to walk up rock... More

We had heard so much about Hanging Lake and its trail, so we decided this was a must whilst we stayed in Glendwood Springs. This is fairly "full on" hike, so if you don't like walking/hiking particularly if it is steep I would not recommend this for you. For our family it was well worth the effort. We did this... More

This is such a great hike. You follow he stream, its beautiful and shady and you end up at a magical lake on top of a mountain. It has been years since I did this trail and it has apparently become VERY popular. We got there around noon on a Friday. Parking lot was completely full. We had to stalk... More
