I had more troubles than the average person because I have asthma. I took my inhaler, and I refused to give up, but this hike will really had me struggling for oxygen. There were plenty of places to stop and rest though. It should be noted, I did see a man smoking and woman that appeared to be 7 months... More

We did this April 14th starting at 6:30pm. There was ice on may by half the trail. Going up was not a problem. Coming down was tricky. Traction devices would have been handy but three of us made it with only one little slip. We were the only car in the parking lot and walked off the trail at 8:30... More

My son and I climbed the trail with snow on about 2/3 of the trail. We didn't think it would be that difficult but when we met people with snow shoes and ski poles we questioned whether we were prepared. We made some walking sticks. It got very steep on the switchbacks at the top but we made it. Was... More

When I saw the sign warning about the trail, I didn't concern myself. Even when the trail became a little icy, I wasn't concerned. Being early spring, the trail was iced over for about 3/4 of the mile, but those coming back down assured us all we could make it. I fell a few times, once on the way up... More

We took this trail today, which is approx 1 1/4 mi. Lots of ice still on mountain which makes for a tough climb up and even scarier climb down. Come prepared if visiting in early spring. We will visit again in the summer as we LOVED the view and the lake! BEAUTIFUL!

It was definitely a workout going up the mountain. My friend and I went at a perfect time. It was around 1030am. We would have gotten there early, but got a bit turned around. Initially the trail opens up on a dirt path, but about half way up (thank goodness for little mile markers) there was a lot of snow... More

This was a great stop. The climb was rocky but beautiful. Good shoes will help a lot. We went early in the morning so we had the trail going up mostly to ourselves but by the time we were ready to descend the trail was getting quite a bit of traffic. We stopped here not knowing what to expect but... More

This is one of my all time favorite scenic spots in Colorado. We make a point to go every year. The hike is beautiful. Though the hike is challenging in places, it is appropriate for all ages. The view at the top is breathtaking. I wish you could access the parking lot from both directions on I-70. The trail gets... More

I absolutely loved my day trip to Hanging Lake. The hike isn't too long and when you get to the top I can't even put into words the beauty of the water and view. I could have stayed there for hours... in fact, I probably did. I would recommend this outing to any local Coloradan or visitor.

This is a relatively short but steep trail. We have hiked it several times -- once in the early spring when snow and ice were still on the trail near the top. Two "mature" people we met near the top were totally unprepared for the conditions, and we had to help them get down. It was very slippery, so be... More
