Perhaps my expectations were set too high reading all the comments about Hanging Lake, but after 1 hour and 20 minutes (including probably 15 or 20 stops of a minute or two) of hiking up a strenuous (but mostly shaded, which was good since it was 90 degrees) trail I was expecting something to take my breath away (more than... A very beautiful, cool water lake with several spraying water falls and moss falling into it. Follow the trail up to the Spouting rocks and walk behind the falls. Mystical experience. But, please be respectful of others, no dropping trash, getting into the water, obey signs so it can be enjoyed for many years.

I had a much harder time with this hike than I thought I would. I was so beautiful and well worth it. Make sure you wear the right shoes and go at your own pace. My kids handled it extremely well (ages 8, 11, and 14). I consider myself pretty healthy and workout twice a week but, this was a... More

This place is so beautiful and well worth the effort to get there. Too bad people don't read or follow the signs and take dogs and go out on the log extending over the lake. Please respect this place and what it is protecting.

I suggest going early in the morning! You beat the crowds and it's quiet and the sun isn't beating down on you. I loved this hike! It's a great challenge for beginners. I wouldn't suggest taking small children on this hike who can't walk on their own or climb. At the the top near the lake the steps are very... More

You want to start this hike early in the morning especially if you are going on the week end because this place gets busy on week ends and during the busy tourist season of the summer. Once you park you will have a walk to get to the trail head, not hard to find. The walk is on a paved... More

We did this hike years ago and I did not remember how beautiful it actually was! It is well worth the trek up! The lake is a deep blue/green with a giant waterfall cascading down. It is crowded when you get up there, but plenty of benches to sit and relax after your hike up. There is decking that allows... More

Well the pictures say it all, don't they? It's a very beautiful calm lake with pristine waterfall in the backdrop. The hike to get there is a quite long but very easy on the eye. If you hike up there, don't miss the spitting rock which is just a few yards hike above the lake. The spitting rock falls allows... More
