The amazing pictures you've seen, they are of a real place. It's hard to believe that something so beautiful actually exists until you see it in person. Watch out for the greedy chipmunks in the area, they will pester you while you are eating your snack!

We hiked this trail last saturday afternoon. It took about 3 hours for the 2.4 mile return trip where some parts were slightly challenging (carry enough water). But, the view is totally worth it. Beautiful lake with crystal clear water, logs, mineral deposits and few fishes. Watch out for quick change in weather. It started drizzle a bit when reached... More

They now have installed a gate once the parking lot is full, you can not enter until someone leaves. Try biking to exit on the trail head instead from Glenwood Springs.

The hike was worth it. What a view, Colorado truly is magical and this was such a special place to spend the morning, the hike up took about 3 hours with a 2 and 4 year old

Don't just show up - be prepared. This is a hike, on a trail that isn't for those without some forethought. If you're an out of state person... make sure you're comfortable with some heavier breathing due to the elevation. Starting elevation is ~6450 and you'll hit peak at `7450. The terrain is a mix of dirt, gravel, and rock.... More

Breathtaking Lake, it was well worth the hike to the Lake. I would do it again but next time I would do it in the summer when the flowers and trees are in full bloom. Words cannot describe the beauty of the Lake and the falls. I didn't not dislike anything about Hanging Lake.

A pristine lake with a series of beautiful waterfalls. It is crystal clear with small fish swimming around. The name "hanging" comes from the fact that it seems to hang on the edge of a cliff before a precipitous gorge.

Harder hike but the trail has an incline the whole way up and plenty of shade coverage. Once you reach the top the view and the lake itself is worth it. One of the most beautiful places I've ever seen.

Our family hiked the Hanging Lake Trail last week. It was really steep but we made it. A great day outside during spring break. A great thing to do with the kids.

The hike to the lake is up hill most of the way. Is abt 2 miles back in. A lot of rocks to navigate over or around so not an easy hike, but is well worth the hike. Hanging Lake is one beautiful lake with trout swimming around and water falls. Bring your camera.
