A pristine lake with a series of beautiful waterfalls. It is crystal clear with small fish swimming around. The name "hanging" comes from the fact that it seems to hang on the edge of a cliff before a precipitous gorge.

Harder hike but the trail has an incline the whole way up and plenty of shade coverage. Once you reach the top the view and the lake itself is worth it. One of the most beautiful places I've ever seen.

Our family hiked the Hanging Lake Trail last week. It was really steep but we made it. A great day outside during spring break. A great thing to do with the kids.

The hike to the lake is up hill most of the way. Is abt 2 miles back in. A lot of rocks to navigate over or around so not an easy hike, but is well worth the hike. Hanging Lake is one beautiful lake with trout swimming around and water falls. Bring your camera.

I've done this hike a few times, and it never gets old. The trail itself is about a mile each way with an elevation gain of about 1,000 feet. There are rocky parts, so be sure to wear sturdy footwear. In the spring, the trail can get very icy and muddy, so use caution during that time. In the summer,... More

The way up was tough in March. Could have used some crampons (shoe chains) and a real walking stick to help with balance. I fell 2 or 3 times. But the lake is beautiful with a unique environment. 2 small waterfalls, turquoise crystal clear water and some neat birds. Also fantastic views of the surrounding mountains.

Hanging Lake is one of those places you just have to see. The hike to the lake is only about a mile long but it's about a 10% grade. Wear good boots! At the top of the climb, one is treated to an ice cold waterfall that feeds a crystal-clear turquoise lake. The water is so clear, the trout seems... More

A little steep but worth the climb. The view up there is very unique and when you get back down you can always enjoy the amazing Glenwood canyon. Better arrive early because the parking lot gets full pretty quickly.

I'm not a fan of hiking (asthma) but did this one anyways and the reward was breathtaking!!!!!!! *NOTE: during the summer you will need to arrive early due to the small parking area & They have to close the exit* What an AMAZING site!!!!!!!! The colors and the clear water will take your breath away!

I had the opportunity to hike Hanging Lake trail in early Spring last year, and it was absolutely breathtaking. The hike itself was a little tough, but I feel it is easy enough anyone can hike the trail. Just go at your own pace, Hanging Lake at the top is well worth the hike. When I went, there was still...
